ohhkckzkdkzdd i've just missed kook sweetheart so much. her and sheep!reader are my favs of yours so i'm so happy to see her back. and I think the kissing booth prompt fits her so well. and damn, such a nice scenario for the first day of february. totally loved this. was fabulous 🙂‍↕️‼️ rip the best friend who didn't do anything but forced to support rafe
he trailed off, “but are you really gonna kiss some random assholes for a fuckin’ dollar?” — he's so jealous 😋😋😋
“i’d rather see those pretty, sparkly lips wrapped around my cock instead, yeah?” you felt butterflies flutter in your tummy, your needy gaze meeting his own. “come on, baby.” he took your hand in his, his thumb rubbing into your skin. — he really talks like there's no one around
“as much as i’d love to eat this sweet pussy, i need to feel you wrapped around me even more.” — sweetheart reader become sweet pussy reader ☺️☺️ she's not sweet for nothing
rafe kissed you, taking your hand in his before placing another kiss to your knuckles. “come on,” he poked his head out of the booth to make sure no one was around, “let’s get you back to my place, i need to get my head between those thighs like asap.” — so happy they're back. i need more of them now ‼️‼️
♡ it’s that time of year again, and kook!sweetheart!reader is here and ready to kiss for charity in her annual kissing booth! however, rafe is first in line.. and a peck on the cheek is not the only thing he’s interested in..
warnings: s1!rafe, flirty banter, dirty talk, heavy petting, fingering, overstimulation, semi-public sex, unprotected sex, oral (m. receiving), hair pulling, multiple orgasms
a/n: now presenting… ‘KISSING BOOTH’ 🤍 i was so obsessed with this idea, i had came up with it last year but decided i should wait for valentine’s day to write it, so to say it’s been a long time coming is an understatement! i’m so excited for this valentine’s day celebration, i hope you all will love it <3

“wow, it looks like cupid threw up in here.” you smiled at the familiar voice, your best friend rolling her eyes when she saw the way your cheeks heated at rafe’s teasing words. while she thought rafe was annoying and insufferable, you absolutely adored him, always laughing at his lame jokes and letting him hold you close at parties as if to let everyone know that you were off limits. “you don’t like the way i decorated the booth?” you pouted up at him as he leaned over the front counter, a smug grin gracing his features. “yeah, it’s cute..” he trailed off, “but are you really gonna kiss some random assholes for a fuckin’ dollar?”
you sighed, pointing towards the tip jar. “it’s for charity, rafe.. and i’m not really ‘kissing’ anyone, i’m barely grazing their cheek!” rafe scoffed before studying you for a moment. you were such a pretty thing, the idea of some losers waiting in line to get something as little as a peck from you made his blood boil. “how much money do you have to make today?” he was fishing in his pocket for his wallet before you even answered. “i would like to make at least three hundred dollars.” you watched him curiously as he managed to get some crisp bills out of the expensive leather.
“i’ll do you one better, and give you five hundred dollars to ditch this joint right now.” you blinked, a nervous laugh escaping your lips. “are you serious?” he dropped the money in the jar that you decorated with pink heart-shaped stickers and red rhinestones. “yeah, but i don’t just want a kiss..” he leaned down to whisper in your ear, “i’d rather see those pretty, sparkly lips wrapped around my cock instead, yeah?” you felt butterflies flutter in your tummy, your needy gaze meeting his own. “come on, baby.” he took your hand in his, his thumb rubbing into your skin.
swallowing thickly, you glanced over at your bestie. “i can’t leave her to do this all by herself..” just as you were going to apologize and tell him maybe another time, she took the money out of the jar and placed it into an envelope. “i’m gonna go turn this money in to the charity organizers and close up shop, ‘looks like the boys of kildare will have to be kissed by someone else today.” you giggled, motioning for rafe to come inside once your friend left. he wasted no time, locking the wooden door shut as you closed the window, moving the silky red curtain over the glass.
rafe’s hands were palming the soft flesh of your ass in an instant, his large hands shamelessly flipping up your skirt to get a better grip on your skin. despite the small amount of pain he drew from squeezing you so hard, you still moaned blissfully when he took you in a sloppy kiss, his tongue wetting your bottom lip in the process. “you’re so sweet, y’know that? letting me have my way with you like this.” without warning, rafe took ahold of your thighs before hiking you up onto the counter. “i’ve been wanting to know how you taste for so long..” he groaned, both of you moaning as he rubbed you through your panties.
moving your hands to run down his chest, you and rafe shared a look before he slowly peeled back the pink lace. “all i gotta do is chat you up, and you’re already soaked like this?” he laughed incredulously, “fuck, you’re just dying for it.” you couldn’t help but whimper when he gathered the pool of slick between your folds, circling your clit slow and hard before popping his digits into his mouth. “rafe!” you’re shocked but so turned on at the same time, the look of pure disbelief on your face making him smile in amusement. “as much as i’d love to eat this sweet pussy, i need to feel you wrapped around me even more.”
fingertips hooking in the waistband of your panties, rafe slid the material down your legs before placing them in his pocket. “i’m keeping these for later, ‘that alright?” you nodded frantically, spreading your thighs open for him before he stroked your glossy slit. “m’gonna stretch you out just right..” you gasped, your eyebrows knitting together as he slowly inserted his middle finger. “shit, you’re so tight.” he smiled down at you, watching as you struggled to keep your eyes open. “if you think this is a stretch, just wait til’ i have my cock inside of you.”
rafe was knuckle deep at this point, your pretty moans giving him all the encouragement he needed to insert another finger. “oh, god!” your heel clad feet began shaking when his palm met your swollen clit, the pressure making you keen. rafe fisted your ponytail, pulling your head down so you could watch him curl his digits in order to hit that soft, gummy spot inside of you. your top was out of place, your tits threatening to spill out of your bra as rafe used his free hand to keep your chin pointed down. the closer you got to your orgasm, the more you tried to pull away from him, the intensity of your climax already coiling tight in your tummy.
rafe let go of your hair and pinned you down by your hip as he pushed you over the edge, the band in your stomach finally snapping as you came undone. you cried out, your nails raking down his forearm as he hissed at the stinging sensation. “you’re doing so fucking good, holy shit!” he cursed, the sound of your slick juices making your cheeks heat. you shook and writhed beneath him, your heart beating in your ears as you felt the pure unadulterated pleasure wrack through your system. surely, it couldn’t get better than this.. right?
wrong.
rafe wasn’t lying when he said the stretch from his fingers was nothing compared to the stretch of his cock, the tip of his length now kissing your poor cervix with each thrust. “t-too much! rafe, slow down!” he ignored your pleas, instead taking your arms and pinning them to your back so you couldn’t push against his abs anymore. you swore if it wasn’t for him holding your leg up, you would’ve fallen to the ground already. “ah, nah you got it, pretty girl.” he leaned down, pressing kisses to your shoulder. “this is all you, sweetheart, you’re sucking me in like a fucking vice.” he panted.
rafe was close, but he meant what he said earlier— he needed to see you on your knees for him, he needed to see those swollen lips wrapped around his cock just like how he’s imagined for so long. just when rafe felt like he was going to fill up your cunt, he pulled out, quickly pushing you to the floor so he could use your throat instead. you’ve given him complete control, and the power to throw you around as he got you on your knees, kicking your thighs apart so he could see the mess you made between your legs. rafe nearly came when he saw you open your mouth so willingly for him, almost like it was your instinct to take him whole.
taking the hem of his shirt between his teeth, rafe kept the cotton material out of the way as he slid between your lips with ease. you were so warm and so wet, and just so, so, so pretty with your mouth full, he took a breath before tugging at the roots of your hair. “make me fuckin’ cum,” your eyes widened slightly when he whimpered, the sound making you take him even further until your nose was nudging at his base, “oh, what the fuck, what the fuck—” he was done for as soon as you swallowed around him, your eyes watering with tears as you felt the warm ropes of his seed paint your throat.
rafe kept your head in place, his jaw slack as he emptied himself inside of you. it wasn’t until you tapped on his leg that he pulled you off, a strangled gasp leaving your lips as you finally sucked in a breath. he felt dazed, just the same way you did. “damn, sweetheart, should i bribe you more often?” you laughed, accepting the hand he held out for you. standing up on shaky legs, rafe got his shorts on, helping you readjust your clothing shortly after. “you don’t have to bribe me..” despite just doing the most filthiest things you’ve ever done, you still couldn’t help but feel shy underneath the intensity of his stare.
rafe kissed you, taking your hand in his before placing another kiss to your knuckles. “come on,” he poked his head out of the booth to make sure no one was around, “let’s get you back to my place, i need to get my head between those thighs like asap.”

Note
this is hope-punk to me but i'm not quite sure how this'll fit with the rest of the blog so i'm anon-ing. this is very heavy into the US's situation right now, so anyone that that may make spiral, maybe sit this one out
y'all know about the attempted "buy-out" of govt workers? my parents are govt employees. my mom told me the night before about the mass emails sent out basically saying "hey guysss if you quit now we'll pay your through september pretty pretty please quit"
mass emails don't usually get sent out from the OPM like this. workers receive emails from the individual department heads.
this is a massive fuck-up, because people knew it was fishy immediately. some even thought it was fake. people are confused and angry. my mom said "they're so tech-savvy yet they can't even write a convincing email", and thousands of other workers are saying the same. because this email is the exact same email that Melon Husk sent out to Twitter employees before he cut them
but this isn't Twitter. this is the entire US government workforce that hundreds of millions of people rely on to do their jobs every single day.
mind you, the govt is gonna run out of money March 15th (if the debt ceiling isn't raised). they CANNOT pay any workers who resign through september, if they pay them at all, which senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) is openly highly skeptical of and there is a video of him on the senate floor telling government workers to not take the deal, echoing exactly what federal unions are telling everyone
and now tens of thousands (probably hundreds, if i'm being honest) of govt workers are standing firm. they know what this means. the fed subreddit is just filled with "stand firm! hold the line!" posts and propaganda that i fucking love to see. one post has over 60k upvotes on it. saw dozens of comments that all say something like "i've been begging for a way out for the past few weeks but this email just reignited my passion for public service and upholding the law".
this is a war on the american people and they are ready to stand up to it. they know mass resignations will fuck up so much shit, and that there is NOT enough people wanting to work for the government to fill those holes.
as of 2pm today (1/29/25), a lawsuit has been filed by the AFGE about Trump trying to politicize the civil service, with special emphasis on how he's going about it. this will not go down quietly. add that to the list of every other lawsuit being filed against him
my mom sent out "keep calm and carry on" to her team and offered guidance if anyone was thinking about resigning (mainly, her younger team members who don't have tenure - understandable). this is a tumultuous time that is scary. my mom is never phased but she is so over this bullshit, as is my dad
this administration is trying to scare/threaten people into quitting because they know a gutting is not going to be easy or even possible and to be completely honest, that email was absolutely a threat to people's jobs.
this is a grand stand of solidarity to the american citizens these people took an OATH to work for. they are tired but they are re-fired up to fight this administration with everything.
and do you know what fighting tyranny looks like for government workers? doing their jobs well. making sure people get what they need. standing up for the constitution. because for some goddamn reason, the clown show believes that government workers just sit at a desk all day and do absolutely NOTHING
Donny may be smarter this time 'round and he knows what he wants, but he has no idea how to get any of it.
bottom-line is, a large chunk of federal workers are in republican-lead states in roles that encompass every department. a lot of government work involves blue-collar workers that get paid jack shit and are NOT partisan in any capacity. this is going to fuck people up, REGARDLESS of political affiliation
so stand behind the government workers who do so much. they need us just as much as we need them. and trust, WE NEED THEM.
if you want us to be okay, you have to believe that we CAN be okay first. and i'm believing that we will come out onto the other side of this. because american citizens hold all the power here, and not him, and this (so far failed) government takeover is just proving that even more. he is overconfident.
in the darkness, this is a spark of hope. people know what we have to lose and they are FIGHTING for it
As someone who was trying to get a federal job before this mess forced me to put those efforts on hold for now, I've been watching this situation unfold closely. I'm thrilled with what I've seen from the federal workforce. It makes me all the more confident that this is the career I want, because the people already there have the same mindset about it. It assures me, too, that there a huge swathes of the government (far more people than in congress) who have this country's best interests at heart.
Suffice to say, it's been really difficult to be hopeful about the U.S. government for the past several years. But for me at least, the federal workers are re-writing the narrative.
Hold the line. Don't resign.

Tumblr media
You had been to Italy a few times, never of course to see the sights. But Logan insisted, not caring that the mission was over and the two of you were supposed to be going back to the mansion.
“C’mon,” he murmured against your lips, pressing another chaste kiss against them. “I’ll show you around.”
"Do you even know where we’re goin’?" you asked, raising a skeptical brow as Logan laced his fingers through yours, tugging you along the cobblestone streets of Rome.
"’Course I do," he muttered, but the way his eyes flicked between the street signs said otherwise.
You smirked, leaning into his side. "Uh-huh. So, what’s the plan? Wander around aimlessly ‘til we find somethin’ interesting?"
"Pretty much," he admitted, bringing your joined hands up to press a kiss against your knuckles. "Not like we’re in a rush."
You huffed a quiet laugh, shaking your head. "Charles is gonna kill us when we get back."
Logan scoffed. "What’s he gonna do? Give me a disapproving look? Put me in time-out?" He squeezed your hand. "C’mon, darlin’. When’s the last time we had a real vacation?"
You exhaled, looking around. The warm glow of streetlights reflected off the damp stone, the air thick with the scent of fresh bread and espresso. It was peaceful. Normal.
You nudged him with your shoulder. "You’re lucky I like you."
He smirked. "Damn right I am." Logan leaned in a little closer, his breath warm against your ear. "Plus, it helps I got a girl who can speak Italian."
You rolled your eyes but didn’t pull away. "Yeah? And how exactly does that help you?"
Logan squeezed your hand, guiding you through the winding streets. "Means I don’t gotta fumble my way through orderin’ dinner."
You snorted. "So that’s why you’re keeping me around? For food?"
"Pretty much," he said, smirking. "That and the company."
You hummed, pretending to consider. "Could’ve just hired a translator."
Logan stopped walking, turning to face you with that look—the one that made your stomach flip, the one that told you he was serious even when his words weren’t. "Don’t need a translator. Need you."
Your breath hitched, but you covered it with a scoff, nudging him playfully. But before you could get out a word he spoke again.
“Let’s get married.”
You blinked at Logan, unsure if you’d heard him right. “What?”
Logan didn’t flinch. He just stood there, watching you with that same calm intensity he always had. “Let’s get married.”
A laugh escaped you, unbidden, half incredulous, half breathless. “You drunk already?”
Logan smirked. “Not yet.”
You shook your head, crossing your arms. “Logan—”
“I’m serious.” He stepped closer, taking your hands in his. “I know you know about the damn ring.”
Your breath hitched.
You did know.
You’d found it once, hidden away in his things. A simple gold band, unassuming, well-worn. You hadn’t asked about it at the time, but part of you had known—Logan didn’t keep things unless they mattered.
Your fingers curled around his. “You’ve had that ring for years.”
“Longer,” he admitted. “First time I met you, I bought it.”
Something in your chest tightened. “Logan.”
“I’ve lost a lot,” he murmured, his voice quieter now, rougher. “Too much. But you keep coming back to me. Life after life. And I keep finding you.”
Your throat felt tight. “This isn’t like the other times.”
Logan shook his head. “No. It ain’t. This time, I’m not gonna waste any more of it.”
You searched his face, looking for hesitation, doubt—anything that might tell you he was caught up in the moment. But there was nothing. Just certainty.
A quiet, stunned laugh escaped you. “You want to get married. Right now?”
“Why the hell not?” He grinned. “We got a whole city to ourselves. We’ve both seen enough shit to know waiting doesn’t always do us any favors.”
You exhaled, tilting your head. “You don’t even have the ring on you.”
Logan pulled his hand from yours, reached into his pocket, and held it up between his fingers. “You sure about that?”
Your heart nearly stopped.
“You carry it around?”
“Every damn day.”
You stared at him, at the way he was just standing there, so unshaken, so sure, like he’d been waiting for this moment forever.
Maybe he had.
And maybe, just maybe, so had you.
“Alright,” you breathed. “Let’s do it.”
Logan’s lips twitched into a grin. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” you said, shaking your head, laughing under your breath. “Let’s get married.”
---
The church was small—hidden in the quieter part of the city, far from the crowds of tourists. The old priest inside raised a brow when you and Logan walked in, but he didn’t ask many questions.
Logan held your hand the entire time, his thumb tracing idle circles against your skin. When the priest asked if you were ready, Logan squeezed your fingers, just once.
Neither of you had vows prepared—there hadn’t been time for that. But you didn’t need them.
“You already know what you mean to me,” Logan murmured, slipping the ring onto your finger. “Don’t need words to prove it.”
You swallowed past the lump in your throat, looking down at the band that fit so perfectly. Then you looked back at him, that same familiar, stubborn, impossible man you had known for years.
You curled your fingers around his hand. “Good. Because I don’t have anything poetic either.”
Logan chuckled. “Don’t need poetic.”
You smiled, lifting your joined hands to your lips, pressing a kiss to his knuckles. “Then let’s just get to the part where they say we’re stuck with each other.”
Logan smirked. “Thought you’d never ask.”
The priest gave a small, amused shake of his head before speaking the final words. And just like that, it was done.
Married.
You turned to Logan, your new husband, and before he could say anything, you grabbed the front of his shirt and pulled him into a kiss.
He made a noise of surprise, but it didn’t take him long to catch up, his arms wrapping tightly around your waist. His lips were warm, familiar, and when he broke away just enough to murmur against your mouth, his voice was thick with something you couldn’t name.
“’Bout damn time.”
You laughed, forehead resting against his. “Yeah,” you whispered. “It is.”
Logan cupped your jaw, brushing his thumb over your cheek. “You’re mine now.”
You smirked. “Always was.”
He kissed you again, and this time, neither of you were in any rush to pull away.
---
You woke up, not with a start, just a slow realization that it was a dream—a memory.
The ceiling fan above you spun in lazy circles, the dim morning light filtering through the blinds. The scent of saltwater lingered in the air, mixing with the faintest trace of lemon cleaner from Laura’s half-hearted attempt at tidying up the place. For a second, you could still feel Logan’s hand in yours, the weight of the ring on your finger, the warmth of his breath against your lips.
But it wasn’t real. Not anymore.
You exhaled, rubbing the sleep from your eyes before pushing yourself up. The bed was too big, too empty. You swung your legs over the side, the cool floor grounding you in the present.
A quiet knock sounded at the door. “Mom?”
You sighed, rolling your shoulders before standing. “Yeah?”
Laura cracked the door open, already dressed, her sunglasses perched on top of her head. “You okay?”
You huffed, running a hand through your hair. “Yeah. Why?”
Laura leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. “You were making that face again.”
You raised a brow. “What face?”
“The sad, I’m thinking about him again face.”
You snorted. “That’s not a thing.”
Laura shrugged. “Sure.”
Shaking your head, you moved past her and into the kitchen. “You eat?”
She grabbed an apple from the counter, biting into it as she hopped onto a stool. “Yeah. You?”
“Not yet.” You poured yourself a cup of coffee, the bitter scent filling the air.
Laura studied you for a second before speaking. “You had another dream, didn’t you?”
You took a sip of coffee before answering. “Maybe.”
Laura didn’t push, just nodded. “Was it a good one?”
Your fingers curled around the mug. “Yeah.”
She chewed her apple slowly, then said, “You think he ever dreamed about you?”
You swallowed, setting the mug down. “I know he did.”
Laura was quiet for a moment before hopping off the stool. “You wanna do something today? Beach, maybe?”
You glanced out the window at the waves rolling against the shore. The idea of a normal day, of pretending for just a little while longer, didn’t sound too bad. “Yeah. Beach sounds good.”
Laura nodded. “Cool. I’ll grab the towels.”
As she walked away, you let out a slow breath, staring at the coffee in your hands. The dream still clung to you, the weight of it settling deep in your chest.
You shook it off.
For now, there was the beach.
For now, there was Laura.
And for now, that was enough.
---
Logan exhaled, the cigarette between his fingers burning low. The Florida heat clung to him, sweat beading at the back of his neck as he leaned against the hood of his truck.
She was in there.
He knew her routine now—when she worked, when she shopped, when she left the house. He told himself he wasn’t stalking, that he was just waiting. But waiting for what, exactly? For her to acknowledge him? For her to let him in?
Wade had called him an idiot for sticking around. Said he was wasting his time. Maybe he was.
But maybe he wasn’t.
He took a slow drag, watching as a familiar car pulled out of the driveway. She was driving. Laura was in the passenger seat, sunglasses on, arms crossed, probably bitching about something.
Logan smirked.
He let the cigarette drop, crushing it under his boot as he pushed off the truck.
They weren’t running.
And as long as they weren’t running, he wasn’t leaving.
---
You stared at him, unabashedly. Something you only did when you were going to scold him for something.
“What?” Logan asked, turning to face you.
You crawled down the bed before sitting at the edge of it, chin in your hand, glasses slipping down your nose. “Why do you have to go to the bar? You could…”
Logan, who had just finished pulling his boots on, paused mid-motion. His brow lifted as he looked at you over his shoulder. “I could… what?”
You shrugged, pushing your glasses up absentmindedly. “I don’t know. Stay.”
Logan snorted, shaking his head as he grabbed his jacket. “What, and listen to Scott ramble about team-building exercises? No thanks.”
You huffed, tilting your head. “You could grade papers.”
He let out a short laugh, shrugging on his jacket. “Yeah, ‘cause that sounds like a real fun time.”
You rolled your eyes, leaning back on your hands. “You wouldn’t have to grade them. You could just… be here.”
Logan’s movements slowed slightly as he adjusted the cuffs of his jacket. He didn’t say anything right away, just stood there, like he was debating whether or not to argue. Then, with a sigh, he turned, arms crossed. “What’s this really about, Y/N?”
You hesitated, tapping your fingers against the blanket. “Nothing. Just thought maybe, for once, you wouldn’t leave as soon as classes were done.”
Logan studied you, his expression softening. “Did something happen?”
You shook your head quickly. “No, I just…” You trailed off, realizing how ridiculous you sounded. You weren’t clingy—at least, you didn’t think you were. But Logan was always leaving. Always heading off somewhere, whether it was a bar, a mission, or just to be alone. And even though you knew that was just the way he was, it didn’t mean you liked it.
Logan sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “Darlin’…”
“Never mind,” you said quickly, pushing yourself off the bed. “Forget I said anything.”
Logan caught your wrist before you could move past him, his grip firm but gentle. “Hey.” His voice was quieter now. “I didn’t mean—”
You shook your head, pulling your wrist free. “It’s fine, Logan. Go.”
His jaw clenched slightly, like he wanted to argue, but instead, he just stood there, watching as you walked past him.
You didn’t slam the door behind you, but you wanted to.
---
Logan woke up with a sharp inhale, the remnants of the dream lingering in his chest like a dull ache.
He stared at the ceiling, his breathing evening out as he tried to push the memory away. But it clung to him, heavy and persistent.
You weren’t her. And he wasn’t your Logan.
But that didn’t make it any easier.
With a grunt, he swung his legs over the side of the bed, rubbing a hand over his face before reaching for the half-empty bottle of whiskey on the nightstand.
He paused, staring at it for a long moment before setting it back down.
Outside, the Florida heat was already creeping in, the morning sun casting long shadows across the floor. He didn’t know what the hell he was still doing here.
But he wasn’t leaving.
Not yet.
---
The ocean breeze rolled in slow and steady, carrying the scent of salt and sunscreen as you leaned back against your towel. The Florida sun wasn’t unbearable, but it was warm enough to make you drowsy. Laura sat beside you, picking lazily at the label of her water bottle, her sunglasses shielding her eyes.
It had been a good day. The kind of day you never thought you’d have—normal, easy.
Until he showed up.
Laura was the first to notice. She didn’t say anything at first, just hummed softly before muttering, “He’s here.”
You frowned, not even opening your eyes. “Who?”
“Who do you think?”
Your stomach twisted, but you kept your expression neutral as you cracked one eye open. Sure enough, Logan stood a few yards away, leaning against a wooden post near the boardwalk. He wasn’t looking directly at you—just gazing out at the water, arms crossed, the picture of casual indifference.
It was bullshit.
You sighed, rubbing your fingers against your temple. “He’s not gonna leave, is he?”
Laura took a slow sip of her water. “Nope.”
You sat up, adjusting your sunglasses as you shot him a glare. He still wasn’t looking at you, but you knew he knew you saw him.
Laura smirked. “You gonna say something, or just keep making angry faces at him?”
“I’m not making angry faces,” you muttered.
“You are.”
You ignored her, pushing yourself up. You dusted the sand off your legs before heading toward him, your steps slow and deliberate. Logan didn’t move until you were right in front of him. Only then did he glance down, his expression unreadable.
“You lost?” you asked, crossing your arms.
Logan smirked. “Nah. Just enjoyin’ the view.”
You scoffed. “Right.”
Silence stretched between you, the sound of waves crashing filling the space where words should have been. Logan shifted slightly, but he didn’t back off.
“You gonna keep following me?” you asked, your voice low.
Logan exhaled through his nose, shaking his head slightly. “Ain’t followin’ you, darlin’. Just happened to be in the neighborhood.”
You arched a brow. “Really? You just happened to be at this exact beach, at this exact moment?”
“Guess it’s my lucky day,” he drawled.
You clenched your jaw, debating if you should just turn around and walk away. But something about the way he was looking at you—calm, patient, stubborn as ever—made your skin prickle.
“You waiting for me to say something?” you asked.
Logan shrugged. “Figured you might.”
You inhaled sharply, taking a step closer. “I said goodbye, Logan. You’re the one who won’t let it go.”
His expression didn’t change. “Yeah, you said goodbye. I just didn’t listen.”
You narrowed your eyes. “You don’t even know me.”
Logan tilted his head slightly, studying you. “I know enough.”
You scoffed, shaking your head. “Unbelievable.”
Before he could respond, Laura called out from behind you. “Are you done flirting, or should I come back later?”
Your head snapped toward her. “Laura.”
She just shrugged, completely unfazed. “What? I’m just saying.”
Logan smirked, and you turned back to him, pointing a finger at his chest. “Don’t.”
He held up his hands in mock surrender, but the smirk didn’t fade.
You huffed. “If you’re gonna keep hanging around, at least be useful and stay out of my way.”
Logan’s gaze flickered over you, something unreadable in his expression. Then, with an infuriating amount of ease, he said, “No promises.”
You clenched your fists, exhaling through your nose before turning sharply on your heel and walking back toward Laura.
She was still smirking when you sat down.
“Shut up,” you muttered.
“I didn’t say anything.”
“You were thinking it.”
Laura leaned back on her elbows, tilting her head toward Logan. “You know, you could just talk to him like a normal person.”
You ripped open a bag of chips with more force than necessary. “I don’t want to talk to him.”
Laura hummed. “Then why’d you go over there?”
You froze mid-chew before shooting her a glare. “You are so grounded.”
Laura snorted. “Good luck enforcing that.”
You muttered something under your breath, throwing another glance at Logan, who was still standing in the same damn spot, watching the ocean like he had all the time in the world.
You hated how much it felt like he belonged there.
Laura smirked again, popping a chip into her mouth. “You’re gonna have to deal with this at some point, you know.”
You exhaled sharply. “Not today.”
“Yeah,” Laura murmured, staring at Logan. “We’ll see.”
---
It had been a week since the beach. Another week of pretending Logan wasn’t lurking in the background, watching but never interfering. Another week of Laura making way too many smug comments.
You ignored both of them.
Mostly.
Right now, you were more focused on getting home before the storm rolling in had the chance to flood the streets. Florida weather was unpredictable as hell—one minute sunny, the next a full-blown hurricane. The dark clouds overhead rumbled, lightning flashing in the distance as you pulled out of the school parking lot.
You had just turned onto the main road when the car jolted.
Then, the all-too-familiar thunk-thunk-thunk of a flat tire.
You let out a slow, controlled breath through your nose. “Of course.”
You pulled over onto the shoulder, gripping the wheel for a moment before forcing yourself to relax. This was fine. You could handle this.
The moment you stepped out, the humidity hit you like a wall. The air was thick, heavy with the scent of rain and asphalt. You crouched, assessing the damage. The back tire was completely shot, rubber torn to hell.
You sighed, pushing your hair away from your face. “Just needed one more week, you piece of shit,” you muttered, kicking the tire lightly before heading to the trunk for the spare.
A familiar rumble of an engine approached.
You froze for half a second before gritting your teeth.
Not even five minutes and he was here.
Logan’s truck slowed to a stop behind you. You didn’t have to turn around to know he was already climbing out, probably looking all smug and self-satisfied.
“Need a hand?”
You exhaled through your nose before straightening up and turning to face him. “No.”
Logan tilted his head, hands on his hips as he looked from you to the tire. “You sure? ‘Cause that looks pretty fucked.”
“I got it,” you said, crossing your arms.
Logan nodded, clearly not convinced. He watched as you popped the trunk, grabbed the spare, and then crouched back down to remove the damaged tire. You worked quickly, efficiently—this wasn’t exactly your first time handling something like this.
Logan leaned against his truck, arms crossed. “Y’know, most people would just say ‘thanks.’”
You didn’t even glance at him. “Most people aren’t me.”
Logan smirked. “No argument there.”
You ignored him, focusing on the task at hand. A bolt was being stubborn, refusing to budge. You adjusted your grip, using more force—nothing.
Logan pushed off his truck, strolling over. “Want me to—”
You stood up, cutting him off. “I swear to God, Logan, if you—”
Thunder cracked overhead, and the sky opened up.
Within seconds, you were both drenched.
You closed your eyes, inhaling deeply as cold rain soaked through your clothes.
Logan exhaled a short laugh. “Well. That’s unfortunate.”
You snapped your head toward him, glaring. “Really?”
He smirked, completely unfazed by the downpour. “What? You don’t like the rain?”
You huffed, brushing wet hair from your face before crouching back down. “Just shut up and let me work.”
Logan didn’t. Instead, he crouched beside you, reaching for the stubborn bolt.
You swatted his hand away. “I said I got it.”
He just looked at you, unimpressed. “It’s rusted. You need more leverage.”
“I know that.”
Logan didn’t argue. He just waited.
You exhaled sharply before finally moving aside, just enough for him to take over.
With one sharp twist, the bolt loosened.
You clenched your jaw. “Show-off.”
Logan smirked. “You loosened it for me.”
You rolled your eyes, but together, the two of you worked in sync—removing the damaged tire, fitting the spare, tightening the bolts. It was quick, practiced, almost too easy.
By the time you finished, the rain had slowed, leaving the both of you completely soaked.
Logan stood, brushing water from his arms. “Could’ve just let me do the whole thing.”
You shut the trunk with more force than necessary. “Could’ve just driven past and minded your own damn business.”
Logan smirked. “Yeah, but where’s the fun in that?”
You glared at him, but before you could respond, another engine rumbled down the road.
A blue sedan slowed beside you. The passenger window rolled down, revealing an older woman with a concerned expression.
“Everything alright, dear?” she asked, eyes flicking between you and Logan.
You forced a polite smile. “Yeah, I—”
“She’s fine,” Logan interrupted.
You turned sharply toward him. “Excuse you?”
Logan ignored you, giving the woman a nod. “Just a flat. All good now.”
The woman hesitated, glancing at you again before nodding slowly. “Alright, if you’re sure. Stay safe.”
The moment she drove off, you turned to Logan, scowling. “What the hell was that?”
Logan shrugged. “What? You were fine.”
You threw your hands up. “And I couldn’t say that myself?”
Logan smirked. “You could’ve, but you were takin’ too long.”
You huffed, rubbing your temples. “You are insufferable.”
Logan grinned. “And yet, here you are.”
You took a slow breath, reining in your frustration. “Are we done here?”
Logan looked you over, still clearly amused. “Need me to follow you home? Just in case?”
“I’d rather drive off a bridge.”
“Bit dramatic, don’t ya think?”
You turned toward your car, muttering, “Go to hell, Logan.”
He chuckled, stepping back toward his truck. “I’ll see you around, darlin’.”
You didn’t respond, just slammed the driver’s door shut before pulling back onto the road.
When you glanced in the rearview mirror, Logan was still standing there, watching.
And damn it, you hated the way it made your chest tighten.
---
Laura was already sitting on the couch when you walked through the front door, damp clothes clinging to your skin, rain still dripping from your hair. She took one look at you—soaked, pissed off, barely holding yourself together—and sighed.
"You let him help, didn’t you?"
You dropped your keys on the counter with more force than necessary. "No."
Laura arched a brow.
You clenched your jaw, yanking open the fridge just to give yourself something to do. "Fine. Kind of."
Laura smirked. "Figured."
You grabbed a water bottle and shut the fridge, exhaling sharply. "He just happened to be there."
"Uh-huh."
You turned, leveling her with a glare. "Don’t start."
Laura held up her hands in mock surrender, but the amusement never left her face. "I’m just saying, for someone who wants him to leave, you sure make it easy for him to stick around."
You threw the water bottle onto the counter. "You think I want him here?"
Laura’s smirk faded slightly, her expression shifting into something more thoughtful. "I think you don’t know what you want."
That did it.
Your patience, already worn thin, snapped.
"You think I don’t know?" you shot back, voice rising. "You think this is easy? That I like having him in the background, watching, waiting, making me remember things I don’t want to remember?"
Laura blinked, caught off guard by the sudden outburst.
You ran a hand through your wet hair, pacing. "Do you know how hard I worked to move on? How hard I tried to build something—anything—that didn’t lead back to him? And now he’s here, and I can’t—" You cut yourself off, exhaling sharply. "I won’t let him pull me back into it."
Laura’s brows pulled together, her voice quieter. "Mom—"
"No," you said, pointing at her. "You don’t get to do this. You don’t get to act like I’m the one making it complicated when he’s the one who won’t leave."
Laura’s jaw tightened. "Maybe he won’t leave because he actually gives a shit."
"That’s not the point!"
"Then what is the point?" she snapped, standing now. "That he’s not our Logan? That he’s not your Logan?"
You flinched.
Laura shook her head. "You keep acting like he’s a ghost, but he’s not. He’s here. And you can keep pretending it doesn’t matter, but it does. He does."
Your chest tightened. "He’s not the man I married."
"No," Laura said, her voice quieter but no less firm. "But he’s still Logan."
Silence.
Your hands curled into fists at your sides, the weight of her words pressing down on you like a vice.
Laura let out a slow breath, her shoulders slumping slightly. "I know you miss him."
Your throat burned. "It doesn’t matter."
"It does."
You shook your head, turning away. "I need to shower."
"Mom—"
"I need to shower, Laura."
She didn’t argue this time. She just watched as you walked toward the bathroom, your legs heavier with every step.
When the door clicked shut behind you, you pressed your back against it, squeezing your eyes shut.
You could still hear his voice in your head, feel the warmth of his hands on yours, see the way he used to look at you—like you were the only thing keeping him steady.
And now he was here. Not your Logan. Not the man you’d built a life with. But Logan all the same.
Laura was right.
But that didn’t mean you were ready to face it.
---
You grunted as you pulled again, trying to unlodge the stubborn screw. “Stupid. Fucking—” A warm hand enveloped yours, you didn’t need to turn around to know who’s. “I got it, kotik.”
He hummed, not condescending, but like he knew you did. “I know. Just lemme help.”
You exhaled sharply through your nose but didn’t fight him when his hand covered yours, his other gripping the wrench. With barely any effort, he turned it, the stubborn screw finally giving way with a sharp creak.
You scowled. “I had it.”
Logan smirked, setting the wrench down. “Sure, sweetheart.”
You huffed, swiping your arm across your forehead, smudging a bit of grease in the process. Logan caught it, his thumb brushing the mark off before you could duck away. His touch lingered, his eyes scanning your face.
“What’s wrong?”
You scoffed, grabbing a rag to wipe your hands. “It was the damn screw you just unlodged.”
Logan’s brow twitched. “Try again.”
You sighed, rolling your shoulders, the tension refusing to ease. “It’s nothing.”
“Didn’t ask if it was nothing,” he said, arms crossing. “Asked what’s wrong.”
You hesitated, gripping the rag tighter before exhaling. “Scott’s just… piling things on me. Ororo asked me to help out more with the kids during training, which I want to do, but then Scott starts throwing his bullshit at me too. Paperwork, scheduling, grading tests that he’s supposed to be handling." You shook your head. "And now, apparently, I’m also in charge of making sure half the team doesn’t set themselves on fire in the Danger Room.”
Logan nodded slowly. “That all?”
Your jaw clenched. “No.”
He waited, saying nothing. Just watching.
You groaned, tossing the rag onto the workbench. “It’s everything. The mansion, the missions, the meetings—God, the meetings. I swear, if I have to sit through another three-hour debate about whether the Blackbird should have a different paint job, I’m gonna throw myself off the roof.”
Logan huffed a quiet laugh, stepping closer. “Y’know, you could just tell ‘em to go to hell.”
You snorted. “Yeah, and then Scott would really make my life miserable.”
Logan’s hand found your waist, his grip warm and steady. “Then let me do it.”
You rolled your eyes. “Oh, that would go over great. You storming into a meeting, claws out, telling Summers where to shove his clipboard.”
Logan grinned. “Tempting.”
You sighed, finally leaning into him. “I’m just tired, kotik.”
He pressed a kiss to your temple. “I know.”
For a long moment, neither of you spoke. His hand traced slow circles against your lower back, grounding you. The steady rise and fall of his breathing, the quiet hum of the mansion in the distance—it was enough to make you forget the stress, just for a second.
“You should tell him no,” Logan murmured.
You tilted your head up to meet his gaze. “And what? Let the entire school burn down?”
His lips twitched. “Not our problem.”
You huffed a small laugh, shaking your head. “You say that, but we both know you’d be the first one running in if it did.”
Logan’s smirk softened. “Maybe.”
You sighed, resting your forehead against his chest. “I hate when you’re right.”
“Lucky for you, it ain’t often.”
You smiled against his shirt, letting the exhaustion slip away—at least for now.
---
You woke up to the sound of waves crashing outside, your chest tight, your skin too warm.
For a moment, you forgot where you were. You expected the distant hum of the mansion, the smell of Logan’s aftershave, the warmth of his body beside you.
But the bed was empty. The room was quiet.
And Logan was gone.
You swallowed hard, blinking up at the ceiling.
It was just a dream.
Just a memory.
And that’s all it would ever be.
---
The day passed in a blur. You went through the motions—teaching gym class, keeping the kids in line, pretending like nothing was wrong. Like you hadn’t spent the entire morning haunted by a dream that wasn’t just a dream.
Like Logan hadn’t found you.
You’d seen him again after work. He wasn’t trying to hide this time. He leaned against his truck, arms crossed, watching from across the parking lot. Not approaching. Not leaving. Just waiting.
And it pissed you off.
Laura wasn’t home when you got back. Probably at the beach or grabbing food. You had a few hours to yourself, time to think, time to breathe—
A knock at the door cut through the silence.
You stared at it.
Another knock. Louder this time.
You already knew who it was.
Jaw clenched, you walked over and yanked the door open, grip tight on the handle.
Logan stood there, his expression unreadable. “Hey.”
You didn’t hesitate. “No.”
His brow furrowed. “No?”
You stepped onto the porch, shutting the door behind you. “No. Whatever the hell you think you’re doing? No.”
Logan exhaled, running a hand through his hair. “Ain’t here to start a fight, darlin’.”
“Then why are you here?” you snapped, crossing your arms. “Because if you think I’m just gonna let you hover around like some stray, you’re dead wrong.”
Logan’s jaw flexed. “I just wanna talk.”
“And say the same goddamn bullshit? Here’s the thing,” you gripped the collar of his leather jacket tightly, pulling him slightly closer to you. “I don’t fucking care.”
Logan didn’t flinch. Didn’t pull away. Just stared at you, his expression unreadable.
Your fingers curled tighter around his jacket, the leather warm beneath your grip. “You think this is romantic? You think tailing me for months, showing up at my fucking door, is gonna make me change my mind?” You shoved him back—hard. He barely stumbled. “I don’t care what you have to say, Logan.”
His jaw clenched. “Yeah? Then why’d you open the door?”
You scoffed, shaking your head. “Because I knew you wouldn’t leave if I didn’t.”
Logan exhaled through his nose, rubbing a hand over his face. “I’m not here to fight with you.”
“Then what the hell do you want?” Your voice was sharp, cutting through the humid night air.
He dropped his hand, looking at you like the answer was obvious. “I want to know why you’re lyin’ to yourself.”
You let out a humorless laugh. “Jesus, Logan, get over yourself.”
“I ain’t talkin’ about me,” he shot back. “I’m talkin’ about you.”
You clenched your fists, nails digging into your palms. “I told you—”
“No, you haven’t,” Logan interrupted, stepping closer. “You keep pushin’ me away, but you ain’t sayin’ why.”
“Because I don’t owe you a fucking reason,” you snapped.
Logan studied you, his gaze slow, careful. “It’s ‘cause of him, ain’t it?”
Your stomach twisted, but your expression didn’t falter. “I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.”
“Yeah, you do,” he murmured. “The Logan you lost. The one that was yours.”
Your breath hitched.
Logan’s voice was quieter now, steady but rough. “That’s why you’re runnin’, why you won’t let yourself stop. ‘Cause you think if you do, you’re betrayin’ him.”
You hated how easily he saw through you.
Your throat felt tight, but you forced out a scoff. “You don’t know shit, Logan.”
“I know grief.” His voice was low, weighted. “I know what it does to you. How it makes you feel like movin’ on is some kinda sin.”
You looked away, jaw tight.
“I also know,” he continued, “that it don’t go away. Don’t matter how far you run, how many times you try to start over.” His tone softened, just slightly. “It stays with you. But it don’t mean you gotta stay buried with it.”
Your hands trembled. You curled them into fists to stop it.
“Look at me,” Logan said.
You didn’t.
A rough sigh, then—you felt it. His hand, warm, familiar, pressing against the side of your face. You stiffened, but he didn’t force it, just let his thumb brush against your cheek.
“Darlin’,” Logan murmured. “I ain’t askin’ you to forget him.”
You swallowed hard.
“I just don’t want you to forget yourself.”
Your breath hitched.
You wanted to shove him away again. Wanted to punch him. Wanted to yell and tell him he was wrong.
But the worst part? He wasn’t.
And you fucking hated him for it.
Your eyes stung, but you refused to let them fall.
Finally, you forced yourself to move, pulling back, breaking the contact. “Go home, Logan.”
Logan didn’t move.
You inhaled sharply. “I mean it.”
He studied you for a long moment before nodding once. “Alright.”
Then—he stepped back, hands in his pockets. But he didn’t turn around. Didn’t leave.
Not yet.
His gaze lingered on you, something unreadable in it.
Then, quieter, rougher—
“I’ll see you around.”
You didn’t answer.
And this time, when he walked away—you didn’t watch him go.
---
He could tell you weren’t fully asleep, nor fully awake, when he got back. The lamp on your bedside table was still on, but your glasses were neatly folded on top of your book.
“Hmm? Logan?”
He slipped off his boots and pulled off his shirt before sliding in behind you, gently pushing your shoulder down so you wouldn’t get up. “Yeah. ‘S me.”
"It’s 2 in the morning." Your voice was quiet, thick with sleep. "You’ve been comin’ home later."
Logan exhaled through his nose, running a hand down his face as he settled onto the bed beside you. His body was still warm from the whiskey, the buzz clinging to the edges of his thoughts. He didn’t answer right away, just reached over and turned off your lamp, leaving only the soft glow of the nightlight in the corner.
You shifted, turning onto your side to face him. Even in the dim light, he could see your eyes—heavy with exhaustion but still watching him, still waiting. You always waited.
For months now, you had tried to get him to stay. At first, you asked outright, voice soft but certain—"Stay tonight?" And when that didn’t work, you tried coaxing, offering quiet conversation, little distractions, your presence alone.
Then, when that didn’t work either, it became this.
Half-asleep murmurs. The lingering hope that maybe, just maybe, he’d come home early for once.
But he never did.
"Yeah," Logan muttered, shifting onto his back. "Got caught up."
You huffed, barely a sound, but he felt it more than heard it. "You always do."
Logan stared at the ceiling, jaw tight. He could feel the weight of your gaze on him, the way you were waiting for him to say something—anything—to ease the ache in your chest. But he didn’t. Because he didn’t know how.
The silence stretched between you.
Then, quietly, you spoke again. "You don’t have to go every night."
Logan swallowed, his throat dry. He could lie, say it wasn’t about the bar, say he just needed the air. But you weren’t stupid. You knew what he was doing, why he kept his distance even when he was right here beside you.
So he didn’t say anything at all.
After a beat, you sighed and turned over, your back to him. A clear dismissal.
Logan closed his eyes, listening to the quiet sound of your breathing as you drifted off.
It wasn’t always like this.
At the start, you stayed up for him. You’d wait in the library, curled up with a book, or in the kitchen with tea, pretending you just happened to be awake. You used to smile when he walked in, small and tired but warm. You’d ask how his night was, even when you knew he wouldn’t answer properly.
And then, when you realized nothing changed, you started waiting in bed instead. Eyes heavy but open, glasses slipping down your nose, always murmuring some half-asleep greeting before reaching for him.
Now? Now you barely waited at all.
Logan exhaled, turning his head to look at you. You were already asleep.
Something settled deep in his chest—heavy, uncomfortable.
This wouldn’t last.
You wouldn’t wait forever.
And for the first time, the thought of losing you—of pushing you too far—felt a hell of a lot worse than whatever he was trying to drown at the bottom of a bottle.
---
Logan’s eyes snapped open.
For a second, he was disoriented, still caught in the haze of the dream—no, the memory. He could still feel the warmth of you beside him, still hear your voice, soft and tired, asking him to stay.
But when he blinked, the bedroom was gone.
No mansion. No soft lamp glow.
Just the inside of his truck, the Florida heat creeping in through the cracked window.
Logan let out a slow breath, scrubbing a hand down his face. His body was tense, jaw clenched so tight it ached. The dream had been too real—too damn vivid.
He reached for the flask in the cupholder, unscrewing the cap with steady fingers. He didn’t drink from it. Just held it.
The memory had felt like a lifetime ago. Because it was—but not his. Not this Logan’s.
It was hers.
The woman who wasn’t his Y/N but still had the same voice, the same eyes, the same way of looking at him like he was something worth waiting for.
Except this time?
She wasn’t waiting.
And Logan wasn’t sure if he was ready for what that meant.
---
For the first time in weeks, Logan wasn’t there.
You didn’t see him leaning against his truck outside the school. He wasn’t loitering at the grocery store. He wasn’t in your goddamn peripheral, watching but never pushing, always waiting for you to acknowledge him.
And it pissed you off.
You should’ve been relieved. You had told him to leave, to back off. You had shoved him, yelled at him, made it perfectly clear that you didn’t need him here—didn’t want him here.
So why the hell did your chest feel tight?
Why did you keep glancing out the window when you left work, expecting to see him?
Why did it feel wrong that he wasn’t following?
Laura noticed before you did.
“You’re looking for him,” she said flatly, popping a fry into her mouth as the two of you sat at a booth in some local diner.
You blinked, caught off guard. “What?”
Laura gave you a look over the rim of her milkshake. “Logan.”
You scoffed, picking at the label of your water bottle. “I’m not—”
“Yeah, you are.” She dipped a fry in ketchup, not even trying to hide her smirk. “You’ve checked the door, like, five times.”
You rolled your eyes. “I was looking at the—” You stopped, realizing you had absolutely nothing to follow that up with.
Laura arched a brow. “Right.”
You huffed, slouching back against the booth. “He’s not here.”
“Yeah. Because you told him to leave.”
“So?”
Laura shrugged. “Didn’t think he actually would, did you?”
You didn’t answer.
Because the truth was, you hadn’t expected him to leave. Logan was stubborn. Logan didn’t give up. If anything, you had expected him to show up again, keep pushing, keep trying to get you to talk.
But he hadn’t.
And for some reason, that scared you.
Laura sighed, wiping her hands on a napkin before leaning forward. “You can’t have it both ways, you know.”
Your brow furrowed. “What the hell does that mean?”
“It means you can’t tell him to leave and then get all weird when he actually does.”
You clenched your jaw. “I didn’t want him here.”
Laura tilted her head. “Didn’t you?”
You stared at her, stomach twisting, because you didn’t want him here—did you?
No. You didn’t.
But you didn’t want him gone, either.
You stood abruptly, tossing some bills onto the table. “C’mon. We’re leaving.”
Laura just smirked. “Where to?”
You grabbed your jacket. “I need to find Logan.”
---
It didn’t take long.
Logan wasn’t exactly subtle, and you had been trained to track people long before you ever met him. It was almost insulting how easy it was.
His truck was parked outside some shitty motel off the main road, tucked into the shadows near a flickering neon sign.
You could’ve knocked on his door. Could’ve walked right up, demanded an explanation—Why the hell did you listen to me?
But you didn’t.
Instead, you waited.
You sat in your car across the street, watching from the shadows, waiting to see if he’d leave. If he’d drive off, if he was planning on staying. If he was really, actually gone.
But Logan never left.
Hours passed. The motel lights flickered. You saw him once—stepping outside just long enough to smoke a cigarette before heading back in. No sign of him packing up, no sign of him driving away.
He wasn’t following you anymore.
But he hadn’t left, either.
You exhaled slowly, gripping the steering wheel.
This was the first time in months that Logan wasn’t hovering just outside your reach. And yet, you had tracked him down anyway.
Maybe Laura was right.
Maybe you hadn’t wanted him to leave.
Not really.
You ran a hand through your hair, exhaling sharply as you stared at Logan’s truck.
What the hell am I doing?
You had spent months trying to get him to leave, and now here you were, parked outside some shitty motel like some stalker, watching and waiting. For what? For him to notice? For him to come back?
No. That wasn’t what you wanted.
You gritted your teeth, fingers drumming against the steering wheel. Then why are you still here?
You could just drive away. Go back home, pretend like you never saw him, pretend like this didn’t bother you.
But it did.
It bothered you that he listened. It bothered you that he left. It bothered you that, for the first time since he showed up, he wasn’t pushing you.
And you didn’t know why that scared you.
With a frustrated sigh, you shoved the door open and got out, the night air thick and humid around you. The gravel crunched beneath your boots as you crossed the street, your steps quick and deliberate.
You didn’t give yourself time to hesitate. If you thought about it too much, you’d turn back. And you weren’t ready to do that yet.
You knocked on the motel door.
Silence.
Your jaw clenched, and you knocked again—louder this time.
Still nothing.
A flicker of irritation ran through you. “Logan, open the damn door.”
Nothing.
Your patience snapped. You grabbed the doorknob and twisted. It was locked, of course, but that was never a problem for you. With a practiced flick of your wrist, you popped the lock and shoved the door open.
Logan was inside, sitting on the edge of the bed, elbows resting on his knees, a cigar burning between his fingers. He didn’t look surprised to see you. If anything, he looked tired.
“Real subtle, darlin’,” he muttered, exhaling smoke through his nose.
You crossed your arms. “You weren’t answering.”
“Didn’t feel like talkin’.”
You narrowed your eyes. “Too bad.”
Logan huffed out a dry laugh, shaking his head. “Figures.”
You stepped inside, kicking the door shut behind you. “You just gonna sit there?”
“What do you want, Y/N?” Logan asked, his voice rough. Not annoyed. Just… tired.
The way he said your name made your stomach twist. You weren’t sure why.
“I don’t know,” you admitted, crossing your arms tighter.
Logan studied you, taking another slow drag from his cigar before stubbing it out in the ashtray. “Then why are you here?”
You shifted on your feet, avoiding his gaze. Because you left. Because I thought I wanted you gone, but now that you are, I—
You shook the thought away, exhaling sharply. “I just… I thought you would’ve left.”
Logan arched a brow. “And that bothered you?”
You hesitated.
That was enough of an answer.
Logan sighed, leaning back against the bed, arms resting behind him. “You told me to back off. So I did.”
You scoffed. “You don’t listen to people.”
Logan smirked slightly. “Guess you ain’t people.”
You hated how easily that threw you off balance.
Your throat tightened. “I don’t—”
“I ain’t askin’ for anything,” Logan said, cutting you off. “Not chasin’ you. Not pushin’ you. I meant what I said—I don’t wanna force you into anything.”
You swallowed hard. “Then why are you still here?”
Logan’s gaze didn’t waver. “Maybe ‘cause I don’t want to leave, either.”
The air in the room felt heavy. Stifling.
You had spent so much time running, so much time convincing yourself that pushing him away was the only option. But now, standing here, looking at him—tired, frustrated, but still here—you didn’t know what the hell you were supposed to do anymore.
You took a slow breath, forcing your voice to stay steady. “You were… right.”
His brows furrowed slightly, like he wasn’t sure what part you were referring to.
You swallowed, crossing your arms tighter over your chest. “What you said. About grief. About moving on feeling like a sin.”
Logan stayed quiet, but his gaze sharpened, locking onto yours.
You exhaled, shaking your head. “I spent years running because it was easier. Because if I stopped, if I let myself…” You trailed off, fingers curling around your arms. “Then it would feel like I was betraying him. Like I was forgetting him.”
Logan’s jaw tightened slightly, but he didn’t interrupt.
Your throat felt tight, but you forced yourself to keep talking. “I tried to build something new with Laura. I wanted to. And for a while, it worked. Seven years in Canada, we were okay. We were living, not just surviving. And then—” You exhaled sharply, shaking your head. “The TVA happened. The Void happened. And suddenly, it was like all that time meant nothing.”
Logan was still watching you, but his expression was unreadable, his hands resting on his thighs as he leaned forward slightly.
“Then you showed up.” Your voice was quieter now. “And I didn’t know what the hell to do with that. Because I knew you weren’t him. I knew that. But every time I looked at you, every time you called me ‘darlin’ and looked at me like you knew me…” You let out a bitter laugh, shaking your head. “It just made me feel like I was losing him all over again.”
“I mean, I can’t even take off my damn wedding ring,” your voice cracked, “without feeling nauseous even though it’s been years.”
Logan’s gaze flicked down to your hand, to the ring still wrapped around your finger. His jaw clenched, something flickering in his eyes—something you didn’t want to name.
“You think that’s wrong?” he asked, voice low.
You swallowed hard. “I don’t know.”
Logan exhaled through his nose, shifting forward slightly, his elbows resting on his knees. “Ain’t wrong to hold onto what matters.”
Your fingers twitched, curling slightly, but you didn’t look away. “Then why does it feel like it is?”
Logan was quiet for a moment, studying you. When he spoke again, his voice was softer, steadier. “Because you think lettin’ go means losin’ him.”
Your throat tightened, but you didn’t answer.
Logan sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I ain’t gonna tell you to take it off. Ain’t gonna tell you to move on, either.” He leaned back, rubbing a thumb over his knuckles. “That’s gotta be your choice, darlin’.”
Something about that made your stomach twist. Maybe because you had spent so long convincing yourself you had to move on, that moving on meant leaving Logan behind—your Logan. The one who wasn’t sitting in front of you.
But then Logan spoke again, and his next words shattered every bit of resolve you had left.
“You ain’t the only one holdin’ on.”
Your breath caught in your throat.
Logan reached into his pocket, pulling something out—something small, something old. He turned it over in his fingers before setting it on the nightstand beside him.
A ring.
Gold, simple, worn from time.
Your stomach flipped.
“I bought this the first time I met you,” he said, voice rough. “A long time ago. Different you. Different me. But you always come back, don’t you?”
You stared at the ring, your heartbeat hammering against your ribs. “Logan—”
“I kept it,” he muttered, rubbing his thumb over the band. “Every time. Even when I knew I’d lose you again.” He exhaled slowly, shaking his head. “And every time, I tell myself I won’t go through it again.”
You swallowed hard. “But you do.”
Logan smirked slightly, but there was no humor behind it. “Yeah. Guess I do.”
Silence settled between you, heavy with everything left unsaid. The motel room felt smaller now, the air thicker. Your fingers twitched at your sides, your chest tight with something you weren’t ready to name.
Finally, you moved.
You walked forward, slow but deliberate, until you were standing right in front of him. Logan didn’t move, didn’t speak, just watched you with that same patient, knowing look.
And then—hesitantly—you sat down next to him.
Not close enough to touch. Not close enough for it to mean anything.
But not far, either.
Logan didn’t say a word.
And for the first time in a long time, neither did you.
---
A few weeks later
You were cooking dinner while drinking a glass of wine—or rather the whole bottle. It wasn’t your fault you had a high alcohol tolerance.
“Jesus, fuck kid!”
“You started it!”
You furrowed your brows, stepping onto the back porch, wine glass still in hand. The salty ocean breeze brushed past as you leaned against the wooden railing, watching Logan and Laura circle each other in the sand.
The backyard—if you could even call it that—was part of a private beach, the stretch of sand leading straight into the rolling waves. Normally, it was peaceful. Right now? Not so much.
Logan huffed, rolling his shoulders. “Yeah, and I’m endin’ it.”
“Doubt it,” Laura smirked before lunging again.
You sighed, watching them spar. To anyone else, it probably looked brutal—claws flashing, sand kicking up with every hit—but you knew better. This was bonding. In the weird, violent, feral way that only the Howlett bloodline could manage.
Laura landed a punch against Logan’s ribs, but he barely flinched. He countered by grabbing her wrist and twisting her to the ground, pinning her for a brief second before she slipped free and jumped back to her feet.
“You two done trying to kill each other?” you called out, swirling the wine in your glass.
Logan scoffed, wiping a bit of sweat from his brow. “She’s the one that don’t know when to quit.”
Laura grinned, unfazed. “Neither do you.”
You huffed a quiet laugh before pushing off the railing. “Dinner’s almost done. Either finish up or starve.”
Neither of them responded, too caught up in the fight, but you knew they’d trail in soon enough. You turned and walked back inside, closing the sliding door behind you.
What you didn’t see was Laura catching Logan staring at your ass as you walked away.
She paused, then turned slowly toward him.
Logan blinked, realizing too late that he’d been caught.
“…Don’t,” he warned.
Laura smirked. “Too late.”
Then she lunged—only this time, it wasn’t part of the fight. She jumped onto his back, wrapping her arms around his neck, and before Logan could react, she drove her foot claws into his ribs.
“Mother—fuck!”
Laura hopped off, landing perfectly on the sand while Logan stumbled forward, clutching his side. Blood bloomed beneath his shirt.
“That’s what you get,” Laura said simply, brushing sand off her hands.
Logan glared at her. “For what?!”
“For being gross.”
Logan clenched his jaw, nostrils flaring. “I wasn’t—”
“Yeah, you were.” Laura crossed her arms, looking unimpressed. “Don’t do it again.”
Logan groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Jesus Christ, kid.”
Laura just smirked, turning toward the house. “C’mon, old man. Before she yells at us for being late.”
Logan sighed, running a hand through his hair before following her inside.
By the time they stepped into the house, you were already setting plates on the table. You barely glanced up—until you noticed the two fresh blood spots on Logan’s shirt.
You exhaled sharply through your nose. “Сраные идиоты,” you muttered under your breath.
Logan frowned. “What?”
“Nothing,” you said flatly. “Sit.”
Logan sighed, knowing better than to argue. He pulled out a chair and sat down, peeling off his shirt with a wince. Laura dropped into the seat across from him, completely unbothered, already helping herself to food.
---
You took another sip of coffee, leaning against the kitchen counter, watching as Laura shoveled cereal into her mouth at a pace that should’ve been illegal. Across the room, Logan sat in a chair, looking far too at home with his cup of coffee, flipping through the newspaper like it was 1954.
It was normal. Too normal.
You narrowed your eyes. “Why the hell are you reading the paper?”
Logan didn’t look up. “Why the hell are you watchin’ me read the paper?”
Laura snorted, not even trying to hide her smirk. “He’s got a point.”
You rolled your eyes, taking another sip of coffee. “It’s weird.”
Logan finally looked up from his paper, brow raised. “What’s weird?”
“You,” you said, motioning at him with your mug. “Sitting there, reading the paper like some suburban dad in a toothpaste commercial.”
Logan smirked, flicking the edge of the page. “It’s called keepin’ up with the world, sweetheart.”
Laura snorted. “You’re reading the classifieds.”
Logan flipped the paper shut with a sigh. “Well, excuse me for enjoyin’ the simple things.”
You shook your head, amused. It had only been a few weeks since he stopped lurking in the background and actually started integrating into your lives. He had a habit of acting like he didn’t belong—like he was just passing through, despite all evidence to the contrary. But moments like these, sitting at the kitchen table, bickering over nothing? They felt normal.
Not forced. Not heavy. Just… easy.
You were about to tease him again when the sound of a car horn blasted through the quiet morning.
Laura groaned. “You have got to be kidding me.”
Logan frowned, setting the paper aside. “Who the hell—”
Another honk. Longer this time.
“Motherfu—” You set your coffee down and turned toward the door, already knowing exactly who it was.
Logan followed, his expression somewhere between annoyed and resigned. “You expecting company?”
You grabbed the shotgun from beside the door, checking the chamber. “Nope.”
Laura smirked, leaning against the counter. “I call headshot.”
You smirked back. “Good luck. I’m faster.”
Logan sighed, rubbing his temples. “Jesus Christ. Just don’t kill ‘im.”
“No promises.”
You stepped onto the porch, raising the shotgun as you caught sight of Wade, standing beside his beat-up rental car, arms outstretched like some kind of messiah.
“Hello, my beautiful, homicidal family!” he called, grinning under his mask.
You pulled the trigger.
The first shot hit him square in the chest.
He staggered back, wheezing. “Okay—ow.”
You pumped the shotgun and fired again, this time hitting his shoulder.
Wade groaned, clutching his arm. “Rude!”
Logan stepped onto the porch behind you, arms crossed. “Really?”
You shrugged, pumping the shotgun again. “He’s still standing.”
Wade held up a finger. “Technically, I’m swaying.”
Laura stepped outside, standing next to Logan. “You missed his head.”
You rolled your eyes. “I didn’t miss. I’m savoring it.”
Wade straightened, shaking out his arms. “Alright, I deserved that. Maybe. Probably not. But—” He put his hands on his hips. “Didn’t expect the welcoming committee to include bullets.”
“You helped him find us,” you reminded him, motioning toward Logan with the barrel of the gun. “And then you just disappeared.”
Wade gasped. “Disappeared? Sweetheart, I gave you your own personal brooding, clawed man-child and then respectfully stepped aside so you could work through your very complicated feelings.” He tilted his head. “Which, judging by the tension on this porch, you’re still working through.”
You aimed the shotgun at his head.
“Okay! Okay!” Wade put his hands up. “I come in peace! No missions, no TVA bullshit, no looming apocalyptic threats. Just little old me, paying a visit to my favorite dysfunctional murder family.”
Laura tilted her head. “You brought gifts?”
Wade paused. “No.”
Laura looked at you. “Shoot him again.”
“Gladly.”
Logan sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Let the idiot talk before you put another hole in him.”
You exhaled sharply but lowered the gun. “Fine. Five minutes.”
Wade dusted himself off, cracking his neck. “I can work with that.” He strolled past you and into the house like he owned the place.
Logan shot you a look.
You just shrugged. “I’ll reload.”
Logan exhaled sharply, shaking his head as Wade strolled inside like he owned the place. You followed, setting the shotgun back in its usual spot near the door, but you kept an eye on Wade as he plopped onto the couch, boots kicked up on the coffee table like he belonged there.
Laura sat back down at the kitchen counter, spooning more cereal into her mouth as she watched the interaction unfold like a live-action sitcom.
Logan crossed his arms, leaning against the wall. “So? You gonna explain why you’re here, or am I just supposed to shoot you myself?”
Wade sighed dramatically, tilting his head back. “Wow. No ‘Hey, Wade, long time no see!’ No ‘How’s life treating you, Wade?’ Just straight to the violence. And after everything I’ve done for you.”
“You didn’t do shit,” Logan muttered.
Wade gasped, clutching his chest. “I helped you find your long-lost murder wife and stabby daughter! And this is the thanks I get?”
You narrowed your eyes. “You helped him track us, then bailed. So yeah, not exactly getting a warm welcome.”
Wade sat up, waving a dismissive hand. “Oh, please. You two needed time to work through your very complicated emotions without my handsome, charming self getting in the way.” He glanced at Laura. “Right, stabby junior?”
Laura scooped another spoonful of cereal into her mouth. “Don’t call me that.”
“See?” Wade pointed at her. “Bonding. Growth. Character development. I did you all a favor.”
Logan pinched the bridge of his nose. “You got five minutes to explain why you’re here before I throw your ass back outside.”
“Fine, fine.” Wade rolled his shoulders. “Like I said, no missions, no apocalyptic disasters, no TVA crap. I just thought, ‘Hey, it’s been a minute since I’ve seen my two favorite feral murderers and their grumpy third wheel—why not drop in?’”
Laura swallowed her bite of cereal. “You came all this way for that?”
“Yes!” Wade threw his hands up. “Is it a crime to want to visit family?”
You scoffed. “We’re not family.”
“Well, no, but emotionally? Spiritually? Definitely.” Wade turned to Logan. “Especially you, big guy. We’ve got history. We’ve been through things. We’ve murdered people together. That’s a bond you don’t just throw away.”
Logan groaned. “Christ.”
Laura wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “You got a hotel or something?”
Wade grinned under the mask. “I was actually thinking I’d crash here.”
You, Logan, and Laura all responded in unison.
“No.”
Wade groaned, flopping back onto the couch. “You people have no hospitality.”
“We have boundaries,” you corrected.
“And I have a deep, unrelenting need to be included in your lives,” Wade countered, making himself comfortable.
Logan pushed off the wall. “You’re leavin’ in an hour.”
“Oh, c’mon, Logan, don’t be like that,” Wade whined. “I brought snacks.” He reached into his utility belt, pulling out a crumpled bag of gas station gummy bears.
Laura stared at them. “Are those even sealed?”
“Nope.” Wade shook the bag. “Still good, though.”
You sighed, rubbing your temples. “Jesus, Wade.”
“What? It’s the thought that counts.” He sat up again, stretching his arms. “So, what’ve you lovebirds been up to?”
“Don’t start,” you warned.
Wade leaned in, resting his chin on his hands. “Oh, I’m starting. I’ve seen the way you two look at each other. And let me tell you—there’s a whole lot of unresolved, slow-burn, will-they-won’t-they going on.”
Logan scowled. “Ain’t shit goin’ on.”
Wade gasped. “So you admit there could be something going on?”
Logan turned to you. “Can I kill him?”
You took a sip of your coffee, considering it. “I mean, he’d just come back.”
Laura stood, grabbing her backpack from the counter. “I’m going to the beach. I don’t have the patience for this.”
Wade pouted. “Aww, leaving so soon?”
Laura slung her bag over her shoulder, grabbing an apple from the counter. “Yeah. Before I commit an actual homicide.”
You motioned toward the door with your coffee mug. “Have fun, don’t kill anyone.”
Laura pointed at Wade. “No promises if he follows me.”
Wade placed a hand over his heart. “I would never.”
Laura shot him a look before heading out, leaving the three of you alone.
Wade stretched his arms over his head. “Sooo… what’s next? Movie night? Group therapy? A good ol’ fashioned team-building exercise?”
Logan grabbed him by the back of his suit, hauling him toward the door.
“Alright, alright! I get it!” Wade protested, feet dragging against the floor. “I’ll leave! But just know this—I will be back. Because deep down, you all love me.”
Logan yanked the door open and shoved him outside.
Wade turned back, wagging a finger. “This isn’t over.”
Logan slammed the door shut.
Silence.
You took a sip of coffee. “Ten bucks says he comes back in an hour.”
Logan sighed. “I hate that you’re probably right.”
---
The smell of fresh coffee drifts through the small kitchen as you rummage in a cabinet for cereal. Laura, half-asleep in an old T-shirt and shorts, slumps at the table with her chin propped on one hand. Across from her, Logan reads the newspaper, though he’s not really turning the pages—more like staring at the same article, his focus wandering.
You pull out the cereal box, shaking it to confirm it still has something inside. “Any of you want a bowl, or am I the only one who still eats this?”
Laura mumbles without lifting her head, “I’ll take some. Didn’t we run out of milk yesterday?”
Logan finally looks up, folding the paper. “I grabbed some on the way home last night.”
You tilt your head, somewhat surprised. “You did?”
He shrugs, like it’s nothing. “Figured you two would appreciate not startin’ the day with black coffee and dry cereal.” He sets the newspaper aside, standing to help. “I’ll grab it.”
Laura lifts her head, eyeing the two of you with mild suspicion. “That’s… domestic.”
Logan huffs a soft laugh, opening the fridge. “You callin’ me soft, kid?”
She smirks, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. “Just making an observation.”
You slide a bowl across to her. “Say thank you, or he’s never doing anything nice again.”
Logan snorts, pouring milk into your bowl first. “You sayin’ I’m not nice?”
Laura just raises a brow. “You’re nice in a grumpy, borderline-feral way, sure.”
You stifle a laugh, taking the milk carton from Logan to finish up Laura’s bowl. “Settle down, you two. It’s too early for bickering.”
Laura mumbles a reluctant, “Thanks,” before digging in.
Logan leans against the counter, sipping from a mug of coffee. For a moment, there’s a quiet ease in the room: Laura’s crunching cereal, you adding sugar to your cup, the morning sun filtering through the windows. No drama, no big conversations—just normal, daily life.
Finally, Laura sets her spoon down, glancing at Logan over the rim of her bowl. “So… you’re picking me up after I’m done, right?”
Logan nods. “Figured I’d swing by. Unless you’d rather walk?”
She wrinkles her nose. “It’s like a hundred degrees. I’ll take the ride.”
You snort into your coffee. “Told you that you shouldn’t wear all black if you’re worried about the heat, muñeca.”
Laura shoots you a light glare, but there’s no real heat behind it. “I like black.”
Logan smirks, finishing the last of his coffee. “Kinda partial to it myself.”
Laura gestures at both your outfits—yours is a faded tank top and shorts, Logan’s wearing his usual jeans and a T-shirt. “We need a family shopping trip, or something. This color scheme is depressing.”
You exchange a glance with Logan, both of you raising a brow.
“Look, we’re not exactly the pastel type,” you say, shrugging.
Laura just sighs dramatically. “Fine. I’ll be the fashion icon in this house.”
Logan folds his arms, feigning seriousness. “I can’t wait to see what horrors you drag us into.”
---
Not long after breakfast, you find yourself sorting through a pile of laundry in the living room, music playing softly from an old radio. Logan wanders in from the porch, running a hand through his hair.
“Got your towels on the line,” he says, plopping down on the couch. “They should be dry by lunch.”
You raise a brow, folding one of Laura’s T-shirts. “Look at you, all domesticated.”
He grunts. “I know how to hang a towel.”
“Sure you do,” you tease, giving him a sideways look. “Next step: vacuuming.”
He picks an invisible speck of lint off his jeans. “Don’t push it.”
You fight a grin, focusing back on the laundry. It’s quiet for a bit, just the low hum of the radio filling the space.
Eventually, Logan clears his throat. “I was thinkin’,” he starts, somewhat hesitant. “We could grill tonight. Might as well enjoy the weather before it gets too hot.”
You pause, glancing his way. “Sounds good. Laura’s meeting with her friends later, but she’ll be back for dinner. We can pick up some extra stuff at the store.”
Logan nods, draping an arm over the couch. His gaze lingers on you a moment, like he wants to say more but isn’t sure how. Then he just nods again, quietly content.
You manage a small smile, folding another shirt. “Guess we’re doin’ normal pretty well these days, huh?”
“Could get used to it,” he murmurs, voice low.
Your eyes meet for just a second, something unspoken passing between you. Then you clear your throat, toss the shirt aside, and stand up. “Well, if we’re grilling, we might need marinade, and we’re nearly out of vegetables. Let’s go before the midday rush.”
Logan pushes himself up. “You want me to drive?”
You think it over, shrug, and toss him the keys. “Sure. Just… try not to side-swipe every car you pass.”
He catches the keys effortlessly, rolling his eyes. “I’m not that bad.”
“Says the guy who nearly took out a stop sign last week,” you retort, but there’s a teasing note in your voice.
He shakes his head, slipping on his boots. “You done with that laundry?”
“For now. Let’s leave it for Laura.”
Logan smirks. “Smart.”
---
Back from the store, groceries in tow, you find Laura sprawled on the couch, a book open on her lap. She looks up when you and Logan enter, arms loaded with bags.
“You got the stuff for the grill?” she asks, nose wrinkling. “Because all I see is lettuce.”
You frown, glancing down at your bags. “There’s more than lettuce, muñeca. Where’s the gratitude?”
She shrugs, turning a page. “Thanks, Mom.”
Logan sets his own bags on the counter with a grunt. “Everything else is in here, including that weird juice you like.”
Laura closes her book, swinging her legs off the couch. “You found it?”
He nods. “Took me five minutes to track it down, but yeah.”
A genuine smile creeps onto Laura’s face—rare, but it’s there. “Cool. Thanks.”
You give Logan a light nudge with your elbow, meeting his gaze and mouthing a silent “good job.” He just smirks, busies himself with unloading the groceries. For a fleeting moment, the three of you fill the small kitchen in quiet coordination—hands passing off produce, storing items in the pantry, the rustle of plastic bags and shuffle of feet the only sounds.
Eventually, Laura heads back to the couch, flipping open her textbook once more. You and Logan exchange a small, knowing look. No big conversation necessary—just an unspoken acknowledgment that this is how life is now: mostly ordinary, sometimes chaotic, but it works.
---
The storm rolls in fast, the Florida heat giving way to thick clouds and distant thunder. The air is dense with the smell of rain, the first few drops tapping against the windows as you toss a towel over the back of a chair.
“You get the towels inside?” you ask, glancing at Logan, who’s standing near the back door, watching the sky darken.
He grunts. “Got most of ‘em before the wind picked up. One got away.”
You arch a brow. “Got away?”
“Flew into the ocean.”
You huff a quiet laugh, shaking your head. “So much for that one.”
Outside, the wind picks up, bending the palm trees as the rain comes in steady now, streaking against the glass. Logan watches it for a moment longer before turning back to you. “Laura still at her friend’s?”
You nod, checking your phone. “She texted a little while ago. Said she’ll head back once the rain dies down.”
Logan doesn’t say anything, but you can tell he’s already debating whether or not to go pick her up himself. You shoot him a look before he can suggest it. “She’s fine.”
Logan rolls his eyes but doesn’t argue. Instead, he moves toward the fridge, pulling out a beer. “You eaten yet?”
You smirk. “That your way of asking if I’m making dinner?”
He cracks the bottle open, leaning against the counter. “Just curious.”
You shake your head, pulling open a cabinet. “We got leftovers from last night, or you can figure it out yourself.”
Logan takes a swig, watching you for a beat. “You really gonna make me fend for myself?”
“You’re a grown man, Logan.” You grab a bag of chips, plopping onto the couch. “Figure it out.”
Logan makes a low noise in his throat—something between a scoff and a chuckle—but he doesn’t move right away. He just watches you, something unreadable in his expression. You pretend not to notice, flicking on the TV, scrolling through the channels.
The storm grows louder outside, wind rattling against the house. Logan finally moves, taking his beer with him as he drops onto the couch beside you. The cushions dip under his weight, the space between you smaller than it was a moment ago.
For a while, neither of you speak. The TV flickers with whatever show you landed on, voices blending with the steady hum of rain. It’s comfortable, easy—until you realize Logan isn’t really watching.
You glance at him. “You good?”
Logan exhales through his nose, gaze still on the screen but unfocused. “Yeah.”
You tilt your head slightly. “Liar.”
He smirks, finally looking at you. “You always call me out on my shit?”
“Only when it’s obvious.”
His smirk lingers for half a second before fading. He takes another drink, resting the bottle against his thigh. “Just been thinkin’.”
You hum, reaching for another chip. “That’s dangerous.”
Logan snorts, shaking his head. “Smartass.”
You grin, but the amusement doesn’t quite reach your eyes. Because you know whatever’s on his mind, it’s not light. Not casual. Logan doesn’t bring things up unless they’re already weighing him down.
You shift, turning to face him properly. “What’s up?”
Logan runs a hand through his hair, exhaling. “This—” He gestures vaguely between the two of you. “It’s been… good.”
You blink, caught off guard. “Okay…”
His jaw tightens slightly, like he’s choosing his words carefully. “I ain’t used to it.”
You hesitate, fingers curling slightly against your leg. “Used to what?”
Logan glances at you, then looks away. “Not havin’ to fight.”
The words sit heavy between you. The wind howls outside, the rain beating against the roof in steady waves.
You let out a slow breath. “Yeah. Me neither.”
Logan’s fingers flex around his beer bottle. “Feels like any second now, it’s gonna get ripped out from under us.”
You study him, your stomach twisting at the quiet honesty in his voice. Logan isn’t afraid of a fight. But this? The lack of a fight? That’s unfamiliar territory.
You lean back against the couch, staring at the ceiling. “If it does, we’ll deal with it.”
Logan huffs. “That easy, huh?”
“No,” you admit. “But I’m too tired to do anything else.”
He’s quiet for a beat, then, voice lower—“Tired of me?”
Your chest tightens. You turn your head, meeting his gaze. There’s no teasing in it, no smirk. Just something raw, something cautious. Like he’s bracing himself for whatever you’ll say next.
You shift closer without thinking. “No, Logan,” you say softly. “Not you.”
His eyes flicker—something unreadable passing through them. His hand twitches slightly, like he’s debating reaching for you but stops himself.
You study him for a second longer before deciding you’re done waiting.
You grab his collar and pull him into a kiss.
It’s not soft. Not hesitant. It’s rough, heated—like you’re trying to prove a point neither of you have the words for. Logan exhales sharply through his nose, startled but not resisting. His fingers find your waist, grip firm, steady.
You tilt your head, deepening it, nails curling against his shirt. Logan makes a low noise in his throat—a sound you feel more than hear.
The beer bottle hits the floor with a dull thud, forgotten.
He pulls you onto his lap, hands splayed against your back. The kiss turns almost desperate, years of tension unraveling all at once.
You break away just enough to catch your breath, forehead resting against his. His breathing is uneven, his grip still firm like he’s afraid you’ll pull away completely.
“Thought you were tired,” he mutters, voice rough.
You smirk, brushing your thumb over his jaw. “Of everything but this.”
His fingers flex against your waist. “You sure?”
You tilt his chin up slightly, making sure he’s looking at you when you answer. “Yeah, Logan. I’m sure.”
Something shifts in his expression—something quiet, something settled.
Then he kisses you again, and this time, neither of you hold back.
---
The storm had passed by the time you stirred awake, the humid Florida air creeping in through the open window, mixing with the scent of salt and something undeniably Logan.
You weren’t the type to linger in bed—never had been—but this morning was different. You could feel the warmth of him beside you, the steady rise and fall of his chest, the weight of his arm draped loosely around your waist.
Your muscles ached—not in a bad way, but in the kind of way that made you very aware of what had happened last night.
You exhaled slowly, staring at the ceiling.
No regrets.
But a whole lot of what now?
You shifted slightly, and Logan’s grip tightened just enough to keep you from moving too far. “Where d’you think you’re goin’?”
His voice was thick with sleep, rougher than usual.
You smirked. “Didn’t think you were awake.”
Logan huffed against your shoulder, his breath warm against your skin. “Been awake. Just didn’t wanna move.”
You turned your head slightly, catching the lazy half-smirk tugging at his lips. “Didn’t peg you for the cuddling type.”
Logan grunted. “Ain’t cuddlin’. Just keepin’ you in place.”
You rolled your eyes but didn’t try to move again. “Right.”
The room fell into a comfortable silence, the only sound the distant crash of waves outside. Logan’s fingers traced absentminded patterns against your hip, his other arm still tucked beneath his head.
For a moment, it almost felt normal. Like you hadn’t spent months trying to ignore the inevitable.
Then Logan spoke.
“Not gonna lie,” he muttered. “Didn’t think this would happen.”
You arched a brow. “You doubting your own charm?”
He smirked, but there was something quieter beneath it. “Just figured you’d keep runnin’ circles around me first.”
You exhaled through your nose, dragging a hand down your face. “Jesus. I should’ve just left in the middle of the night and really kept you on your toes.”
Logan’s grip tightened slightly. “You wouldn’t.”
You didn’t answer right away. Because he was right.
Logan let out a slow breath, his thumb brushing against your side. “So what now?”
You thought about it. About the last few months, about the way you and Laura had built something here. About the way Logan had been circling your life since the moment he showed up, waiting, watching, never pushing—until last night.
“I don’t know,” you admitted. “But I’m not going anywhere.”
Logan was quiet for a second, then, “good.”
You smirked. “That easy, huh?”
He huffed. “For once.”
The weight between you didn’t feel as heavy anymore. You weren’t thinking about the past, about the other Logans, about the lives you’d lost before. For once, you weren’t overthinking.
You glanced down at your left hand, the ring still on your finger. You twisted it around, feeling the weight of it—the warmth that had long since faded, but never really left.
Logan didn’t say anything. Didn’t move. Just watched, his jaw tight, his fingers flexing slightly against your hip like he wasn’t sure if he should reach for you or give you space.
You exhaled slowly. Then, before you could talk yourself out of it, you pulled the ring off.
The absence of it was immediate. Like a phantom limb, like something missing that had been part of you for longer than you could remember.
You held it between your fingers, staring at the small, worn band. The gold was a little dull, edges softened from years of wear, of fights, of moments that felt so distant now you weren’t sure if they were even real.
Logan stayed silent, watching.
You swallowed hard, bringing the ring up to your lips, pressing a kiss to the cool metal. A quiet farewell. A promise that none of it had been lost, that it still mattered.
Then, carefully, you set it down on the nightstand.
Logan exhaled through his nose, shifting slightly beside you. “You sure?”
You looked at him. His expression was unreadable, but his eyes—God, his eyes. Like he was bracing himself, waiting for you to regret it, waiting for you to pick it back up, waiting for you to tell him this was a mistake.
But it wasn’t.
You reached for his hand, intertwining your fingers with his. His palm was rough, familiar and unfamiliar at the same time.
“I’m sure,” you murmured.
Logan studied you for a long moment, like he was trying to decide if you meant it. Then, after a beat, his shoulders relaxed, just slightly. He turned his hand, squeezing yours, his thumb brushing over your knuckles.
Neither of you said anything after that.
Because for the first time in years, there was nothing left to say.
Tumblr media
so i don't know if people caught it, but i thought i would just say it-the whole arc of logan was the fact that he always left his version of reader but this time he stayed. which is the reason he stayed in florida even when reader didn't want him there. i don't know if i made it obvious or not but i thought i would just put it out there
anyways, i hope this lived up to people's expectations :)

a/n: thank you, Aspen, for letting me flail at you because i had SO many ideas for this particular character + prompt combination. what i love about Andy is that he can fit into a super fluffy or soft dark or super dark story very easily. (i mean, that's true of a lot of characters, but i feel like i usually lean one way or the other with most characters and with Andy, i'm never quite sure where i want to go.) anyway, this one might require a bit more suspension of disbelief than normal and sorry if the ending is a bit rushed, work was BRUTAL today 🫠 thank you for playing my sweethearts game, i hope you enjoy this filthy little fic!! ♡♡

For an incubus like Andy Barber, Valentine’s Day was his favorite day of the year.
There was something particularly decadent about the yearning he sensed among lonely, single women on Valentine’s Day, and he always fed well in the days leading up to the actual holiday. Though the demon had to be careful not to feed too much on any one woman, he never failed to gorge himself on the offerings in the city.
But then he came across you in a coffee shop on the morning before Valentine’s Day, and he hadn’t sensed yearning quite so exquisite as yours in all his many years walking the earth. Watching you from across the shop, he knew you would make an especially delectable meal, his eyes following you closely as he sipped on his Americano.
You hid your emotions well, Andy noticed, keeping them masked beneath a friendly exterior, a welcoming smile on your pretty face while you chatted with the barista making your drink. To all the world, you looked like anyone else with a charming—if tired—disposition, but to the incubus, you were churning with all the emotions that made you a meal.
The demon could sense the sadness lurking beneath your smile from the moment you’d stepped into the establishment, and he could practically taste the desperate longing clinging to your soul like a drop of hot chocolate caught on the corner of your lip.
You wanted, more than anything, to be the object of someone’s lust, to find someone you felt safe enough with that you could be turned into the lustful creature you yearned to be. You wanted someone to lick the chocolate from your lips and sate your desire.
And Andy Barber knew he was the demon for the job.
In generations past, Andy might’ve used his magic to slip into your dreams, seducing you with images of lust until he received the acquiescence he required to join with you and feed on your soul. But, as the incubus’s years had worn on, he’d found he enjoyed a more physical approach.
There was something so much more satisfying about touching a woman with his fingers, feeling the warmth of her body and breathing in the scent of her skin. He enjoyed the feeling of a woman’s soft curves beneath his palms, groping her and learning what made her gasp gently in her sleep.
Then, the demon would use her slumberous, disoriented mind and her aching, needy body against her to get what he needed—that permission that allowed him to sink into her body and feed on her soul.
It was so much more satisfying, and so much more fun, too.
Of course, that didn’t mean Andy didn’t use his magic to get into your apartment. He unlocked your door with a wave of his fingers, closing and locking it behind him before he masked the footfalls of his shoes as he made his way to your bedroom.
There, he paused in the doorway and took a moment to look at you, appreciate you while you slept, completely unaware that there was a demon in your room.
A smile curled Andy’s mouth when he discovered that you were far from an elegant sleeper, your body sprawled across your bed beneath the blankets, one leg hiked up while the other curled around a pillow clutched close to your chest. Your face was buried in another pillow, your indelicate snores muffled by its softness.
And yet…you were cute. Precious even.
Andy felt something fluttery deep in his chest, somewhere in the vicinity of his black heart. Instead of looking too closely at the feeling, he ignored the sensation, chalking it up to the excitement he felt knowing you were going to make for a particularly delicious meal.
The demon slunk into your room, clinging to the shadows as he moved around to the side of the bed where you lay and tried to gauge whether you were a light sleeper. You didn’t stir when he deliberately stepped on a squeaky floorboard, so he decided to ease closer, his fingertips trailing up your body over the blankets piled on top of you.
When he pulled them carefully from your slumbering body, a little whimper slipped from your lips, a shiver wracking your shoulders as the cold licked against your skin. Andy quickly used his magic to warm up your room, making it a much more comfortable temperature for your nearly naked form.
He watched you settle, his eyes roving over the curves of your body. Hungrily, he took in the dip of your waist and the flare of your hips, the way your thin nightshirt had ridden up to tease a glimpse of your perfectly rounded ass. Your thighs were parted, and Andy could just glimpse a hint of your panties, hiding your pretty pussy from sight.
His cock hardened behind his zipper and he nearly groaned at the sinful way your body called to his. Even if the yearning in your soul hadn’t been so enticing, Andy knew he would’ve been drawn to you by the desire you inspired just by existing.
Once he was sure you were comfortable and had fallen back into a deep slumber, Andy finally allowed himself to touch you.
His fingers trailed gently over your arms, skimming along your skin before smoothing down your side to your hips and thighs. There, he resisted the urge to dip between your legs just yet, instead learning the curves of your calves and the delicate contours of your ankles.
All the while, Andy watched your face, monitoring your breathing to make sure you didn’t stir again.
As he observed you, he noticed you relaxing even further, as if his touch soothed you. He felt another flutter in the proximity of his black heart, and, that time, he couldn’t ignore the way it started beating slightly faster.
The organ often felt cold and dull in his chest, especially when he was in need of feeding, but it felt like it was coming to life in a way he’d never experienced before, not even after a satisfying meal. And it was all because of the way your body was instinctively relaxing into his touch.
The demon could almost pretend it was him specifically you were melting for, that even though you hadn’t woken and hadn’t seen his face, he was the only one whose touch could have that effect on your body.
Andy deliberately ignored the fact that, in all likelihood, you would’ve been soothed by a gentle touch from any man who might share your bed, because that thought inspired a concerning level of rage in him. No, he refused to think of anyone else in your bed but him. You were his.
For the night, at least, he reminded himself, pushing his possessive thoughts to the back of his mind to analyze later. He had much more important things to attend to with your warm body, which would soon be willing, splayed out in front of him like the most tempting meal.
Finally, Andy allowed his fingers to slip beneath your nightshirt, tugging off your panties and nearly groaning when your hips raised instinctively to allow him to ease them down your thighs. He pulled them off and slipped them into his pocket, thinking nothing of the fact that he’d never taken a souvenir before.
He was too busy focusing on the feel of your body beneath his fingertips. His hand slipped eagerly between your thighs, and he was surprised to find your soft pussy was already drenched. It felt fated that your body would have such a reaction to him since Andy’s cock was straining painfully against his zipper, aching to sink inside your perfect cunt.
The demon cupped your pussy in his palm, a ferocious possessiveness tearing through his chest as he felt you drip into his hand. You were his. His. His.
His heart beat harder in his chest, the feeling of yearning in his own black soul so all-consuming, he didn’t have the wherewithal to notice it was completely out of character.
After all, an incubus like Andy Barber didn’t get attached to his meals. He didn’t feel possessive or territorial over the women he fed on, like a wolf who might tear into anything that threatened to take his most precious lifeline away.
But the demon could feel himself falling willingly into an obsession with you that wouldn’t be sated from just one night. He just didn’t know it yet.
Acting on instinct more than his typical intention of easing a woman into what he had planned, Andy freed his cock from the confines of his pants, taking himself in his palm while the fingers of his other hand explored your wet, warm pussy.
You were so soft, so hot, and so responsive when Andy sank a finger into your tight hole, a breathy moan slipping from your mouth. The demon felt the newly-familiar beating of his heart in his chest, and he suddenly craved even more of your sounds of pleasure, he wanted them to fill his ears for all eternity.
Andy stroked his cock dispassionately, needing to take some of the edge off his arousal, but he made sure to squeeze the base tightly to ensure he didn’t cum too soon. All the while, he teased your body open with his deft fingers, preparing you to take his thick length.
When he slipped a second finger into your pussy and saw how easily you took him, he had to bite back a groan. His cock was leaking precum all over his fingers, as if it knew there was a warm hole to push inside and was begging Andy to finally put himself out of his misery by sinking into your sweet, pliant body.
The demon had to force himself to make sure you were ready, Andy carefully pushing a third finger into your pussy, and letting out a restrained growl at the sight of you taking three of his fingers.
His mouth filled with drool as he watched you take him, the sudden desire to feast on your pussy nearly overwhelming him. He wanted to make you cum on his tongue and mouth for being such a good girl and taking everything he gave you.
But he told himself that could come later—after he got the answer he needed to give you everything you deserved.
To tide himself over, Andy eased his fingers from your pussy and licked your juices from where they dripped down his hand, savoring the sweet taste of your arousal. You tasted so fucking good, better than anything Andy had ever tasted in his long, long life.
His groan was so loud in the quiet room that he nearly missed the little whimper of need you let out, your hips shifting like your body was seeking the intrusion that had been filling your tight hole. The sound reached Andy’s ears and his cock jumped in his hand, the amount of blood rushing to his dick nearly making him light-headed.
Finally—finally—Andy joined you in your bed, gently shifting your body into the center of the mattress so he could fit behind you. Your nightshirt was rucked up around our waist, and his cock slipped between your thighs like it was sliding home. The stiff length rubbed against your dripping slit while he pressed flush to your back, his arms gently curling around your body and pulling you into his chest.
A soft, sleepy moan spilled from your mouth and Andy wanted so badly to kiss the sound from your lips, to drink it down and feel it fill his lungs.
Soon, he told himself. Soon he could kiss the moans from your lips and devour your mouth and ravage every inch of your body until you were well and truly his. But first he needed to get your acquiescence, and he needed to be careful with you until he got it.
You’d already been laying mostly on your belly, and Andy shifted, covering your body with his own, rocking his hips gently to fuck your soft thighs. His cock dragged against your leaking slit with every smooth thrust, coating himself in your desire and making his heart beat furiously in his chest with the need to push inside your cunt, to claim you, to feed on you until he was more sated than he’d ever felt in his life.
Andy could sense the yearning in your soul deepening as your desire ratcheted up, even while you slept. Your swirling emotions thickened in the air around the bed until the demon felt nearly drunk on you.
Your yearning, your soul—you yourself—were headier than anything Andy had ever experienced and it took all his self-control not to lose himself and rut you like the beast he was.
First, he needed your permission. An incubus could only fuck and feed on a willing woman, and Andy needed you to be willing more than he’d needed anything else in his entire life.
“Give yourself to me, sweet thing,” Andy murmured in your ear, the words coming easily after so many eons as an incubus—though the pet name was new. “Let me sink inside your divine cunt and let me drink on the longing in your heart. Let me feed on the lust in your soul and I’ll reward you with pleasure beyond your imagination.”
The demon could feel you stir beneath him, and his heart thudded painfully in his chest with a desperation he couldn’t remember ever feeling before. But it only pushed him to rock his hips faster, to grip your hip possessively while he fucked between your thighs, dragging the fat length of his cock against every inch of your dripping pussy.
Because of the rules of his kind, Andy needed your permission before he could push inside your body, but he could use every trick at his disposal to tempt you into giving him your acquiescence. An incubus wasn’t above using magic or trickery and though Andy preferred to seduce you with just his touch and his words, he would resort to magic if he needed to.
But something told him he wouldn’t need to with you. Something told Andy that you were his, and he just needed to ask you sweet enough and you’d grant him the privilege of owning your body and soul for the rest of your natural life.
“Please, my sweet girl,” he rumbled in your ear, letting you hear how badly he wanted you, needed you. “Say yes.”
Thankfully for the demon, you hadn’t roused enough for your mind to wonder why there was a strange man in your bed begging to fuck you. It was clear from your soft, sleepy whimpers that you were still asleep enough to think it was simply a very real-feeling dream.
Your hand reached back clumsily, your fingers curling around the back of Andy’s neck, using your hold to arch your spine and push your ass deeper into the demon’s lap. A keening sound spilled from your lips, your pussy gushing around the thick cock wedged between your thighs, and you finally gave your answer on a drowsy moan.
“Yes.”
The word falling from your lips tipped you over the line from sleeping to waking, and you finally realized that what you were feeling wasn’t a dream. It was really happening. There was a man in your bed and, for some reason, you’d given him permission to be there.
Andy could feel the change in your body, the way your body tensed in fear and confusion. It was natural, of course, and the demon had expected it. But what surprised him were the intricacies of your reaction—the way you still instinctively pulled him closer, your nails digging into the back of his neck, your legs squeezing together and trapping his cock against your pussy with your plush thighs.
You wanted him, Andy was sure of it, even if your mind was struggling to come to the same conclusion your body had already reached. Oddly, Andy found himself wanting to soothe you, his hand skimming down your side like he was attempting to calm a wild animal.
“Shh, sweet thing, it’s alright, you’re alright,” Andy purred, feeling your muscles slowly relax beneath his hands.
Every caress of his palm and sweet stroke of his fingers had you softening further, your body surrendering to his soothing touch. Soon, you were even letting your thighs fall open again and Andy rewarded you with a pleased rumbling sound and a kiss brushed to your cheek.
He shifted his hips back, moving until the tip of his cock was pressed against your tight little hole. That made the muscles of your thighs go taut again, but the demon also heard the way your breath hitched in your throat, like you’d sucked in a gasp of anticipation, not fear.
Andy gently kneaded your hip, his mouth grazing against the shell of your ear and tickling your skin with his beard. “Let me in, my sweet girl,” he cooed, prodding at your dripping cunt with his leaking tip. “I’ll make you feel so good, pretty thing.”
The soft, whispered pleas and praise from Andy’s lips had you relaxing again, your thighs spreading and your hips lifting in wordless offering. It was too perfect—you were too perfect. The demon couldn’t wait any longer.
Andy pushed inside your wet heat, letting out a grunt of pleasure when he felt your tightness wrapping around his stiff length. You felt so good, your pussy clinging to his cock and sucking him deeper into the warm depths of your body. He slid home until he was buried to the hilt.
As soon as he was inside you, the world tipped violently on its axis, spinning around the demon in a vicious dizzying swirl that he knew was all in his head.
It lasted only a second and by the time your bedroom came back into focus, Andy instinctively recognized that his entire universe had realigned, with you—your delicate human body and your fragile beating heart and your precious glowing soul—at the center of it.
“You’re mine—mine,” Andy growled, his voice preternaturally deep and dark, his arms closing so tightly around your body that he heard the breathe exhale from your lungs and felt your heart beating against your ribcage.
A startled squeak fell from your lips and Andy suddenly realized he was holding you much too tightly, and that he was no doubt scaring you. His grip loosened, his hands moving to comfort you, kneading your soft flesh and groping your curves until you let out a soft, happy sigh.
“I’ll take such good care of you, sweet thing,” the demon vowed in a husky voice filled with warmth. He nuzzled his face into your cheek, pressing sweet kisses to your jaw and neck, listening to your breathy little giggles at the rasp of his beard. “I only want to make you feel good, I won’t ever hurt you.”
“You…” Your voice was raspy with sleep, giving out on you before you could say what you wanted to say. Andy waited patiently while you swallowed and tried again. “You promise?”
Andy could feel your pulse fluttering wildly beneath his lips and he smiled into your skin. You were human, so you hadn’t felt what Andy had when your bodies had joined, the fusing of your spirits, and if you needed reassurance with words that he would cherish you and protect you for the rest of your days, then he would happily give it to you.
“Of course, my sweet girl, I swear it.”
The last of the tension that had been lingering in your muscles finally drained out of you, and Andy’s cock pushed another inch deeper, the tip brushing against a spot inside you that had your walls clenching down hard on his length.
The demon groaned in pleasure, pulling his hips back and sliding into you again, muffling a groan into the crook of your neck when you squeezed him so exquisitely.
“You feel so good, sweet girl, so perfect,” he murmured into your skin, fucking you in short, rocking thrusts that had you gasping and whimpering softly. “You’re taking me so fucking well, such a good fucking girl.”
Out of the corner of his eye, Andy caught the pleased smile that curled the edges of your mouth at his praise. But then you were turning your face into your pillow and muffling your moans into its softness.
Andy didn’t like that one bit. He wanted to hear all of your sounds of pleasure—they were his, just like the rest of you—so he wrapped his hand around the front of your throat. Gently enough so he he didn’t hurt you, he lifted your head from the pillow, rumbling a pleased sound in his chest when he could hear every whimper and moan that fell from your lips.
“Good girl, let me hear you—let me hear how good I’m making you feel,” Andy urged, rocking his hips harder into you, his cock spearing deep into your tight cunt with every thrust.
The tips of his fingers dug a little deeper into the sides of your neck and you moaned even louder, your cunt clutching at the demon’s cock like a vise while the rest of your body melted further into his hold. It was like you’d been waiting for him to come along and take control of you, of your very breathing, and it sent Andy reeling once again.
You were perfect. Perfect. So perfect that even that word didn’t feel like enough. It felt like you’d been made for Andy, and he’d been made for you. A perfect match. A true mate.
“Oh god, wh-who are you?” you asked, your breathy, pleasure-soaked voice pulling Andy back into the moment.
The demon nearly chuckled at the question. It was a little late for you to be asking such a thing when his cock was buried to the hilt in your cunt and every thrust of his hips pushed you closer and closer to the edge of your release. But he didn’t want you to take offense, so he wracked his lust-drunk brain for an answer, finally settling on something close enough to the truth.
“I’m the demon of your dreams, sweet thing,” he rumbled in your ear, picking up the pace of his thrusts. “The one you conjured with the desperate longing in your soul—the yearning to be fucked, to be taken, to be owned, thoroughly and fully.”
“I didn’t, I didn’t conjure anything—I swear,” you babbled, but Andy’s fingers tightened around the sides of your throat, cutting off your protests. The way he choked you only made your cunt gush and flutter between your thighs, and Andy reveled in the feeling of your slick channel gripping his hard cock.
“You don’t have to pretend with me, sweetheart, I know exactly what your soul yearns for, and I’m more than happy to oblige,” Andy purred, raking his teeth down your cheek before nipping at your jaw.
He was holding onto your neck too tightly for you to make a sound, but he felt your throat work against his palm and your pussy spasm around his cock at his filthy words. He choked you a little harder and sank his teeth into your shoulder through your nightshirt, going crosseyed and nearly cumming when you clenched down hard around him.
“What your soul yearns for is a good hard fucking,” Andy rasped when he pulled his teeth away from your shoulder, moving back to murmur in your ear. “Now, take it like a good slut and I’ll let you thank me later.”
Andy picked up the pace of his hips, pounding harder into you. The demon fucked you into the mattress while he choked the breath from your lungs, giving you only enough air to remain conscious while he savaged your soft, warm cunt with his brutal cock.
It wasn’t long before he felt you reaching the edge of your release, and he dug his other hand beneath your body, pinning you to the bed with his hips while he fucked you ferociously and rubbed your clit. You were helpless when the demon demanded you give him your pleasure.
“Cum for me, my sweet thing, cum for your demon,” Andy urged.
You shattered apart on a silent scream, your mouth wide open and eyes rolling back into your head while your pleasure consumed you. Your body shook beneath Andy’s larger form, your tight pussy strangling his cock and dragging him over the edge right after you.
Andy buried his face in the curve of your neck, groaning his release loudly into your skin while his hips stuttered and finally pressed flush to your ass. He buried his cock in your pussy and spilled his cum into the depths of your womb, flooding your body with his seed while he fed on your soul.
Out of habit, he was careful not to take too much, but he could sense that there was no such thing when it came to you. That realization made him groan all over again, another spurt of cum spilling into your cunt while he gorged himself on you until he was sated, your pussy still fluttering with the aftershocks of your release.
For a long moment, the two of you caught your breath together, Andy’s hand having loosened around your neck, though he still held you with your back pinned against his chest. He almost tightened his hold again when he felt your head moving, but you only turned your head to nuzzle your face into his beard and he rumbled a pleased sound in his chest, a smile curving his mouth.
With a gentleness he’d never known himself to possess, Andy eased his softening cock from your pussy, enjoying the way your combined releases spilled across your thighs.
He paused, scooping up his cum with his fingers and pushing it back into your hole, making you shudder and whine at the overstimulation. The demon shushed you softly, pressing kisses to your cheek and the edge of your jaw until he was done.
Then, he rolled onto his back and tugged you with him, tucking you under his arm and propping his head up with the other hand. You still wore your nightshirt, and he was still clad in most of his clothes, his pants only opened enough for his cock, but he wanted to hold you a little bit longer before he forced himself to move from the bed.
You lifted your head and looked at the demon, the two of you hanging in a suspended silence while you regarded each other.
For the first time since he’d slunk into your bedroom, Andy got a good look at your face, and his heart thumped heavily in his chest at the beauty of you. The slope of your nose, the curve of your mouth, and the intelligence in your eyes—it was all gorgeous to the demon.
As he stared at you, you looked at him in return, your eyes darting over his face while you took in his features—his crystal blue eyes and straight nose and the dark beard framing his soft mouth. Your expression was unreadable, but then a small smile curved the edges of your soft mouth, and your eyes warmed. You didn’t seem to hate what you saw, at least.
“I’ll answer all your questions,” Andy promised, his gaze falling to your lips, the desire to kiss you gripping him and refusing to let go. “But first…” He trailed off, dragging you up his body while his hand cradled your head, moving you so he could slant his mouth to yours.
The incubus kissed you gently at first, with just a brush of his lips, as if he was asking for your permission all over again. When you sighed happily and melted into him, your fingers curling in the short hair at the nape of his neck, he knew you were giving yourself to him willingly, gladly, wholly.
Andy kissed you harder then, tracing his tongue along the seam of your lips and seeking entrance that you eagerly gave him. He slid into your mouth, groaning at your sweet taste, and explored you thoroughly while you clung to him and kissed him back.
When your hips began to rock greedily against Andy’s thigh, your slick pussy leaving a wet spot on his pants, he finally pulled away and gave you a wolfish grin.
“Does my sweet girl need her demon’s cock again?” he teased playfully before nipping at your lip and drinking down your moan while he soothed it with his tongue.
“Yes, please,” you murmured sweetly, making Andy chuckle.
But the demon wasn’t about to let your plea go unanswered. He rolled you onto your back and took the opportunity to kick his pants off his legs before sliding home with one thrust. The slick of your combined releases made it easy and you both groaned as he filled you up.
“Good,” he growled, clutching you tight beneath his body and encouraging your arms and legs to wrap around his broad, muscular form. “Because I need to be buried in your cunt for the rest of my fucking life.” His voice was a low rumble that sent a shiver down your spine and made you clutch him tighter, meeting every thrust with your hips while he fucked you into the mattress.
It wasn’t until the sky began to lighten from a midnight blue to a softer shade of sapphire, the sun dawning on the morning of Valentine’s Day, that the two of you were finally sated enough for you to ask all the questions that had been rattling around in your head since you woke up to the demon in your bed.
Andy answered you with the truth—every bit of it—not even questioning that he didn’t have it in him to lie to you. He told you about what he was and how he’d been drawn to you from the moment he’d sensed you.
You were skeptical at first, of course, but when he flashed you a look at his true eyes—dark pools of inky blackness like the pits of hell—and showed you a glimpse of his tail, he could tell that you started to believe him. It surprised him how much he wanted you to believe him, so it was a relief when you finally did.
Then, Andy told you about the stories of an incubus’s true mate. He hadn’t believed them until he’d met you, he explained, but a true mate was the one person in all the world that an incubus could feed on and never harm. They were literally made to be together.
Gently, as if worrying that it would be the part you couldn’t accept, he told you that he believed you were his—his true mate, the one person meant for him.
It took you a long moment to process that information, but once you did, you laughed wildly, happily, and pulled him in for a kiss. You were smiling too much to deepen it, so you settled for brushing butterfly kisses all over Andy’s face, making him smile, then grin, then laugh along with you.
“Y’know, I would find out my soulmate is a demon on Valentine’s Day,” you said, giggling and falling back down against Andy’s chest. You curled into his side, pressing your face into his sternum and brushing another kiss over where his heart was beating in his chest.
Your comment reminded Andy of what day it was and he squeezed you in his arms. “Be my valentine?” he asked playfully, pressing a smile into the crown of your head. But he couldn’t wait for your answer, urging you, “Say yes, sweet girl, say yes.”
“Yes, of course, my sweet demon,” you purred, throwing a leg over Andy’s body and sliding on top of him.
Andy’s cock, which he’d thought for sure needed at least a few more hours of rest after the long night of fucking, valiantly stirred to life between your thighs. You reached between your bodies, slipping his half-hard length into your warm pussy and settling down on his chest, breathing a soft sigh of contentment.
The two of you fell asleep like that, your soft, perfect body keeping Andy’s cock warm while you held each other close. As he drifted off, the demon felt a sense of peace and satisfaction that he’d never even dreamed he could achieve in his long, long life of walking the earth.
From that day on, Andy’s life was never the same. It was happier and more fulfilling and he never wanted for anything, not while you were in his life—and in his arms and in his bed. Together, you celebrated holidays and birthdays and life achievements as you grew together, but one day was still the most special.
For an incubus like Andy Barber, Valentine’s Day was his favorite day of the year. Not because of all the lonely, single women in the world, but because it was the day he’d found his true mate, the love of his life—it was the day he’d found you.

Your husband’s away on ‘business’. AKA he’s in bed with a girl half his age a couple thousand miles away from where you sit on a lounge chair by the country club pool. It fazes you less than it should, but women like you don’t marry men like him for love. Or, at least, you don’t stay married for love. Half the women, wearing designer swimsuits and oversized sunglasses to hide aging under eye bags, are with their husbands for money too. The only difference is that you’re willing to be honest about these things.
Honestly, the new cabana boy is handsome. They usually are, but this one has a certain charm that has you hiding behind an issue of Vogue to sneak a peek at his toned body when he’s not looking in your direction.
In your persistent delusion, he pays special attention to you. He delivers fresh towels to the women on the other side of the pool, but he never lingers around them like he does with you. That pretty grin is genuine, you tell yourself, he’s not only working for tips.
He nearly startles you when he comes by to offer you a refill of your margarita, a dizzyingly beautiful concoction since the bartender never skimps on the tequila, at least not when you’re the one ordering. He surely has a thing for you, or the way your tits look in a bikini, especially when they’re pressed up against the counter as you call his name.
“I really shouldn’t,” you say with a smile that begs him to convince you to have another. “It’s too early for more alcohol.”
“What’s that saying… ‘it’s 5 o’clock somewhere’?”
“Sure, in Margaritaville. I think we’re still a couple hours behind, though.”
“I’ll be back in a couple hours, then,” he says, taking your glass from the table beside you. “In the meantime, can I get you anything else?”
You can think of many things you’d love him to get you, but you settle for a seltzer with lime.
You take a short nap and when you wake up, you know exactly what time it is because Jimmy Buffet is playing through the speakers to let you know, in addition to cabana boy who is humming along to the tune.
Your knight in a tightly fitting t-shirt approaches swiftly with your drink already in hand.
“How’d you know?” you ask, coyly, before taking a tiny sip.
“What can I say? I know how to please a woman,” he says with a wink.
You smile through the scoff you give him. “Alright, cabana boy, don’t let it get to your head.”
You learn his name the next day when you overhear one of the women you used to play tennis with bitching to him about this or that.
“Javier,” you say as he walks past.
“Yes, ma’am,” he says, turning on his heels with a look of relief on his face.
“I heard you getting an earful back there. What’d you do to earn that?”
Knowing her, whatever he did shouldn’t have landed him on anyone’s shitlist, but she’s got just about every name in the phonebook written down.
“She requested an extra towel and a bottle of water to be brought to her in the women’s locker room, but I wasn’t very prompt.”
“Risking your tips, aren’t you?” you tut, teasingly.
“Doesn’t usually tip me anyway,” he says under his breath, looking off to the side, pretending the confession isn’t meant for your ears.
“Oof. Even you can’t win her over,” you say with a pout.
“Suppose I was wrong about the whole ‘knowing how to please a woman’ thing,” he says with a faux-dramatic sigh.
“I suppose so,” you say. Sitting upright so he can hear your voice when you say much lower, “but, you’ve really tugged on my heartstrings here, so I give you my deepest sympathies.” You grab a couple twenties from your wallet and hand them to him.
“Pity tips,” he muses, a smirk tugging at his lips as he plays along with your little game, “I’ll bring you another sob story with your next drink.”
The wink he gives you is his way of saying ‘thank you’.
While you’re acutely aware of the power dynamic between the two of you, it does feel like he’s become a confidant in a way. You’d be far happier with his company than anyone else’s.
While you’re in the midst of reading the latest issue of Cosmopolitan, Javier comes by to check up on you - something he seems to do more frequently now. Maybe it’s the tips, maybe it’s the tits.
“Is it any good?” he asks, nodding to your magazine.
“About as good as trashy magazines get. Why? Were you looking for some fashion advice, sex tips, embarrassing breakup confessions?” You offer up the gifts promised on the outer cover, nonchalant with equal attention paid to each, hopefully masking the fact that one of those topics is far more interesting than the others when you’re up close and personal with the effortlessly handsome Javier.
Your eyes meet briefly at the mention of sex tips.
“Hmm. How ‘bout those sex tips?”
“Alright, then,” you say, patting the spot beside you, beckoning him to sit. “Here are the best places to have hot summer sex…”
You can feel his body heat, his hand placed behind your body to hold himself steady as he leans in to read over your shoulder, pretending to be enthralled with this stupid article.
“Number one,” you begin, “in the water.”
“A classic,” he notes, looking towards the pool only a few feet from you.
“It says here that the ‘dirty mermaid’ position is ideal.” You point to the illustration of a couple getting it on.
“Seems simple enough.”
“Wait ‘til you hear this,” you say, pausing for suspense, “their next suggestion is sex on a trampoline.”
“I can see the appeal,” he says.
“Okay, well, then you better try out ‘the circus freak’ position the next time you have a rendezvous on a trampoline.”
“I’ll keep that in mind in case the circumstance arises.”
And just when you think you’ve got him to yourself, he’s whisked away from you by another dissatisfied country club member - maybe she’s jealous, you think,  until she gives you a sneer and then, you’re positively certain she is. Before he departs fully, he places a gentle hand on your shoulder. “Let me know if you find anything you think I might like in there.”
The magazine tells you to fuck in a tent, on a sailboat, or in the woods, but all you want is Javier, right here, right now - be it the dirty mermaid, the circus freak, or just a man and a woman unable to ignore their overwhelming attraction to each other.
Alas, you go home alone. The only one to touch you that night is your vibrator, and no matter how creative your imagination can be, you can tell the difference between silicone and the real deal.
You return to your spot by the pool the very next day. Usually, you can apply your suntan lotion by yourself, albeit with some difficulty, but today, you struggle to get the part of your back that would normally be covered by your swimsuit - but of course, you know to avoid tan lines you need to keep your top off and your tits pressed to the towel.
“Need any help?” Javier asks at a most opportune time.
“Maybe a little, but let me just lay down first. I don’t want to flash you or anyone else.”
“It wouldn’t bother me at all, but I’m a gentleman, so I’d look away if you asked me.”
“I didn’t take you for a gentleman.”
“I could be one. If that’s what you’re into.”
You struggle to get your top off enough to put lotion on without exposing yourself, and Javier whispers to you, “Just take it off. No one’s around.”
You look at him, suspicious - and excited - about his motives.
“I’ll be a gentleman,” he reiterates.
“You better be,” you say with a face that dares him not to be  one, before turning and taking your top off.
Javier takes the bottle of suntan lotion and squeezes a dollop onto his hand before rubbing it from your shoulders down your upper back, remaining cautious not to touch you anywhere too scandalous. Still, his touch lingers and he begins to massage your tense muscles.
“Wow,” he says, “You’ve got a serious knot right here. What’s got you so tense?”
“A masseuse and a shrink?” you tease, expertly avoiding the question. “Javier, you’re really working overtime.”
“I’m just trying to build a good rapport with one of our most loyal members. It’s part of my job description.”
You suppose it is, but he’s surpassed ‘good rapport’ and made it to the number one spot on the list of men you have sexual fantasies about. You want to give him more than cash tips or sex tips. You also want to take far more than the tip from him.
So, you keep him beside you for longer by letting him see deeper into your life as he shifts his touch.
“Well, if you really want to hear all of my life’s hardships - Ooh, yes, right there - I’ll spill.”
You swear you can hear him inhale a sharp breath when you tell him where you want his hands.
“Right here?” he asks, tentatively pressing his thumbs in more forcefully.
“Yeah, that’s perfect,” you say. “You’re doing great, Javier.”
“Thank you, ma’am,” he says, but you’ve heard those words enough times to know that his voice is different this time. That he’s affected by your praise.
“It’s so stupid,” you begin with a light laugh, “I’m just pissed off at my husband.”
“Oh?” he says with a hint of disappointment in his tone.
“Yeah, he’s off on ‘business’,” you say, air quotes included, “but we all know what that means.”
“Do we?” he asks, and he may have said something else, but you cut him off.
“Ooh, down a little bit, babe.” The pet name slips from your lips accidentally, but he doesn’t seem to mind.
He moves his fingers to the perfect spot and you nearly moan.
“I can’t believe your husband would give up spending a day with you, especially… one like this…”
“One like what?” you ask, curiosity piqued.
“Ma’am, I’ll be honest, you look great in this swimsuit.” When he hears your laugh, he adds, “I swear. I wouldn’t lie about something like that.”
“Well, Javier, I’m halfway out of this swimsuit right now.”
“As a gentleman, I wouldn’t dare take a peek, but I imagine you look even better like this.”
But you know he’d love to - as would you. You imagine there’s a tent forming in his uniform swim trunks.
“I know I was planning to lie on my stomach, but would you mind getting my chest as well,” you suggest.
“It would be my pleasure,” he says.
You turn to him, revealing your naked upper body, simultaneously praying that the pool area is empty and that it’s crowded with women who’d certainly be jealous of what’s going on between you and the cabana boy.
You’d think he’d never seen a pair of tits before if you saw his face - absolutely awestruck, unable to tear his eyes away from them.
At your request, he gently massages them.
“Goddamn, your husband is lucky,” he says under his breath.
“Is he?” you say. “You’re the one touching me right now.”
His hands trail down your sides, testing the waters.
“It’s a hot day… you don’t wanna get burned… so maybe you’d like me to get your thighs too? Just to be safe?”
You never thought you’d have a man begging just to touch your thighs, but you can’t complain.
“You’re so thoughtful,” you say, “if you don’t mind, that’d be wonderful.”
You can tell he’s itching to get your swimsuit bottoms off.
You whisper to him, “You can take them off if you want.”
“But my hands are covered in sunscreen. I wouldn’t want to give you an infection or anything.”
“You have a mouth, don’t you?”
His brown eyes melt as he eagerly dives between your thighs without another word.
His tongue works wonders as it glides over your folds, paying special attention to your clit, flicking his tongue teasingly, then sucking lightly. You realize how large his hands are when he wraps his arms around your thighs and pulls you into him. You’re fixated on his fingers, how badly you wish he could give you them.
“Javier,” you say, “I want you to fuck me.”
(If you weren’t so needy, you’d beg to get on your knees, to scrape them on the concrete, and to suck him off. He serves you too often, you owe him more than just tips).
When your vulgar language reaches his ears, he looks up at you, wiping the shock off his face with a hand through his hair. He looks excited from his eyes to his shorts as you give him the once-over. YOu quickly slip your bikini back on before he takes your hand and leads you to a slightly more secluded part of the pool. Anyone who swims nearby could see you, but women further away with their noses in their trashy romance novels (when they’re not stuck in everyone else’s business), won’t be able to tell who is getting it on behind the waterfall.
No, it doesn’t look even close to as gorgeous as the tropical destinations you’ve visited, but it does conceal your identity. And, Javier looks better than any man you’ve ever seen. The country club made an active decision to hire hot young men who could easily be printed on an advertisement in one of those stores in the mall that you no longer frequent - you’ve outgrown the overbearing scent of cologne and the juvenile style. Last summer, there was a blond pool boy, the summer before, he had blue eyes. But, Javier is something else - he’s a walking wet dream. And he’s yours.
The water is cold, particularly so when you’re in a shady area, but Javier’s sun-warmed chest pressed against yours keeps you from shivering. And, with every subtle touch, heat pools at your core.
When you’re submerged in the water, he slides your bikini bottoms to the side and lowers his swimsuit just enough to free his cock. You can’t resist the urge to touch him, so you stroke him slowly and you can tell he’s holding back pretty moans that you’d die to hear.
Before he can lose himself to the feeling, he picks you up and you hook your legs around his hips. He keeps you close to him, not letting your back scrape the edge of the pool behind you. His grip is firm but his touch is soft.
You coax his cock to your entrance, and he lets you, but not without warning.
“If we do this, I’m gonna need you to be real fucking quiet.”
“Same to you.” Your voice falters as he slides the head along your folds.
Quite frankly, you couldn’t care less if everyone in the general vicinity heard the moans you hold back - in fact, you’re proud to be the one in Javier’s arms - but you try your best to collect yourself, to pretend the first inch, the initial stretch, doesn’t faze you. Even the anticipation of being filled by him makes you clench around him, your body trying to pull him closer, ignoring your intentions to keep up this coy persona with a quip readily stowed just behind your lips when he says something flirtatious and witty. You want to be the one to make him blush.
It is the opposite of sex with your husband. Not only because Javier is younger and far more attractive, but because you have to make an active effort not to cum too quickly when his fingers reach between your bodies and find your clit. You’ve spent years faking orgasms with your eyes closed, imagining a man like this is the one panting above you. Better make it last.
Javier’s hands have a steady grip on your hips, forcing them to meet his with every thrust while your arms take place on his shoulders. You lean in and kiss his neck, eliciting the slightest moan, and you have to hold yourself back from sucking at his skin. You want to hear him, you want to mark him. You want to make him yours.
You hear the clop clop sound of sandals approaching accompanied by a pair of feminine voices. It snaps you from the momentary daze and what is meant to be a warning comes out like a whimper.
“Javi,” you say, and the sound of his name coming from your lips only spurs him on.
You have to stifle your cries by burying your face in the crook of his neck. Your words are muffled but you manage to convey enough to get a response - not the one you were expecting, though.
“I don’t care,” he says. “I want them to know I’m fucking you.”
You know that Javier can have just about any woman he wants, you feel lucky to be chosen, but you know, despite his words, he wants you in secret. He’s just good at dirty talk, and you’ll gladly take the fantasy he builds for you.
“I’m serious,” he says. “I want them to know how good I’m making you feel.”
Good would be an understatement. Pleasure ripples through you, threatening to push you over the edge, into an intense orgasm. He angles his hips so that every time his cock fills you, it strokes your g-spot along the way. And his fingertips work tirelessly on your clit.
But he slows his pace, he pulls you back from the ledge.
“I wanna hear you when you cum,” he says, and he’s unable to hide his ragged breathing behind his sternness.
He’s not demanding, he’s begging.
And it works all too well with you.
You meet his eyes - an agreement - and he returns to his previous routine, the one that makes your thighs tremble and your head loll back.
“Javier…” His name flies past your lips and you wonder if you would’ve said it anyway, without his direction. It comes out in a desperate cry — one that covers up any noise that comes from Javier. You only catch the latter end of his orgasm, taken entirely by your own, but his face will be forever etched into your mind, in that corner that you keep secret and sacred.
All of a sudden, in your post-orgasm haze, Javier pushes you gently into the waterfall, so you end up soaked (in a new way). You understand why when he pulls you out of the pool bridal style.
As everyone in the area gawks at you, likely having heard you scream Javier’s name, he acts like the hero he is.
“Someone had a few too many drinks,” he announces. “Luckily, no CPR is needed, but I’ll be taking her to the med station for a checkup. Everyone may resume their regularly scheduled lounging.”
There are whispers amongst the crowd - there always are - but you’re impressed by his acting.
When he sits you down on a chair meant for the aftermath of swimming-related accidents (most of which result in nothing more than a bandaid), he says to you, “It’s important to stay sober if you don’t want to end up in sticky situations.”
“Sticky situations like the one on the front of your shorts?”
“Goddammit,” he says with a sigh. “They’re gonna fire me.”
“I hope it was worth it,” you say.
“I’d say so,” he says, but you can still see a tinge of worry in his eyes.
“Besides,” you say, “I think I might be able to get another job.”
“Really? That’s awesome,” he perks up. “But, I’ll miss seeing you every day.”
“I wouldn’t worry about that.”
Your husband arrives home the next day and you immediately complain about how the maintenance men did a terrible job keeping the backyard pool clean. Truthfully, they really weren’t the best and you’d been thinking about finding a new pool boy anyway.
When your husband goes to look up ‘pool maintenance in my area’, you say, as nonchalantly as you can, “I heard that one of the cabana boys at the country club is quitting, and he’s actually really good at his job. He works super hard, never slacking off.”
“Alright. I trust your judgment. Maybe you can get his contact info from the club and we can ask for his rates.”
You already have his number saved in your phone so you call him and get his email address and pretend you’re calling the country club. You draft the perfect email for him to send your husband, to show him that he’s the perfect man to work for you.
“Wow,” he says, when he receives the email. “He says here that he even offers extra services like bartending and poolside service… whatever that means. His rates look reasonable too. You did a great job, honey.”
“Thank you,” you say, accepting a kiss on the cheek from him. “I can stay home and monitor him, assuming you have to work on Monday…”
“Actually, I’m so sorry, but I’m leaving again in the morning.”
“What? Where are you going?”
“San Francisco. Another conference. But, don’t fret, I’ll be back in a week. I would love it if you stayed home when he’s here - just in case - but I trust your decisions either way.”
Needless to say, Javier is great at his job when your husband is home, and even better when he’s away.

NSFW alphabet with them🫦
Featuring: Park Gyeong Seok x Reader(f), Nam Gyu x Reader(f)
A/N: By popular demand, I wrote an alphabet with them. I hope you like it!
🫦🫦🫦
Tumblr media
Park Gyeong Seok
A = Aftercare (what they're like after sex)
A man immediately helps you clean up all the mess, helps you get to the bathroom, where you may take a joint shower. After all, you either talk for a long time or fall asleep in each other's arms.
B = Body part (their favorite body part of theirs and also their partner's)
He loves your tits. He likes to suck your nipples, leave his marks on your tits, spank them, and basically he likes how your breasts fit perfectlyin his palms.
In himself, he loves his pumped up body: hands, abs. Because he sees you drooling when you see him without a T-shirt.
C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
He cums most often in you (you want more children, except Na Yeon), he also likes to cum on your tits or in your mouth (in your mouth with your consent).
D = Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
He has long dreamed of painting with his paints on your naked body, and then have sex with you.
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they're doing?)
He is twenty years older than you, he was married once, and he also has a daughter, so he was one hundred percent experienced.
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
Missionary: this is an old classic for him. Cowgirl: he likes to see your tits jump to the rhythm of his pushes into your pussy.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
He's always serious during sex, so don't expect jokes from him (he also doesn't know how to joke too well).
H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
He is not used to watching the hair in the groin area, but he began to do it for you, although sometimes rarely, he just doesn't want you to feel uncomfortable.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
He is quite romantic, even at such moments. The man tries to shower you with all possible compliments.
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
He jerks off, but not very often. This happens when you can't have sex for quite a long time.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
You are in his clothes, outfits where your breasts are clearly visible when you call him "daddy"
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
He prefers everything classic: a bedroom or a living room. Sometimes you can have sex in the shower.
M = Motivation (what turns them on, gets them going)
Dirty talk, flirting, your requests that you really want to have sex.
N = No (something they wouldn't do, turn offs)

P = Pace (are they fast and rough? slow and sensual? etc.)
Gyeong can start slowly and finish quickly and roughly.
Q = Quickie (their opinions on quickies, how often, etc.)
He doesn't like quick sex, he doesn't have time to enjoy you, so you don't do that.
R = Risk (are they game to experiment? do they take risks? etc.)
Gyeong is also not a fan of different experiments, he likes everything in the classics.
S = Stamina (how many rounds can they go for? how long do they last?)
He will definitely be able to withstand 4-5 rounds.
T = Toys (do they own toys? do they use them? on a partner or themselves?)
No toys.
U = Unfair (how much they like to tease)
Sometimes a man can tease you, he likes to see how you are embarrassed by his vulgy words.
V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
Not to say that he’s too loud. Gyeong is something between loud and quiet, in addition to moaning, he can also growl and swear.
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
Since he is an artist, you make small dates at your home related to his work. You become his model and he draws a lot of candid pictures with your image, which only you two will see.
X = X-ray (let's see what's going on under those clothes)
8 inches.
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
Not to say that the yearning is very high, rather above average.

He loves your hips, because Gyu always kisses and bites them, he can also spank them. He also likes your tits, he likes to suck them like a little kid, he also loves it when you jerk him off with your tits.
He rather likes a dick in himself, because he thinks it's perfect for you.
C = Cum (anything to do with cum, basically)
It quickly enters the taste, so it cums wherever it wants: in your pussy, on your face, on your stomach, on your tits, in your mouth. Nam likes to watch you look with his sperm.
D = Dirty secret (pretty self explanatory, a dirty secret of theirs)
He wants to have threesome sex, where his best friend Thanos will be present, but he knows that you will be against it, but maybe someday he will offer.
E = Experience (how experienced are they? do they know what they're doing?)
He had several girlfriends before you, so he is quite experienced, unlike you.
F = Favorite position (this goes without saying)
Missionary: the guy loves to look at your face, and also to see how his dick is deep enough in you.
Cowgirl: he loves your tits and the way they jump.
Doggy style: Nam likes to slap your ass during sex and feel the main one.
G = Goofy (are they more serious in the moment? are they humorous? etc.)
He's not very serious at such moments, he likes to joke or even talk.
H = Hair (how well groomed are they? does the carpet match the drapes? etc.)
He shaves and not only because of you, Gyu just doesn't like it when he has a lot of hair on his body.
I = Intimacy (how are they during the moment? the romantic aspect)
You were surprised when you saw that your boyfriend is romantic during sex, he likes to tell you various compliments and kiss you.
J = Jack off (masturbation headcanon)
Nam jerks off almost every day, he relieves his stress after a hard day, but then he will definitely take care of you.
K = Kink (one or more of their kinks)
The way you call him "daddy" when you're in the form of a sexy kitty, his clothes on you, light suffocation and slight humiliation.
L = Location (favorite places to do the do)
He doesn't care where to have sex, he can fuck you in the bedroom, in the shower, in his car, in the cubicle of the public toilet.

V = Volume (how loud they are, what sounds they make, etc.)
He's quite loud, it's high for him to know when the neighbors hear you fucking.
W = Wild card (a random headcanon for the character)
In the evening you got into a traffic jam that went on for quite a long time, he was very bored and the guy decided to have fun. And you were wearing a light summer dress. The guy began to caress your pussy with his fingers, through the fabric of your panties, and when he saw that you wanted more, he began to fuck you with his fingers.
But Gyu became cramped in his pants and he came up with another plan.
- Kitten, are you riding your daddy while he's driving? - he said in a purring voice, you were very excited.
He had tinted windows, so no one will see you. He slightly moved the seat away so that you could sit comfortably after you took off your panties and pulled down the underwear with Gyu (he helped you with this). You sat down with a loud moan on his dick, starting to move quickly. Nam slapped you on the ass with one hand, and held the steering wheel with the other.
- Fuck, I love evening traffic jams so much. - he says, before moaning loudly again.
X = X-ray (let's see what's going on under those clothes)
7 inches.
Y = Yearning (how high is their sex drive?)
High, even very high!
Z = Zzz (how quickly they fall asleep afterwards)
Gyu falls asleep almost immediately, hugging you at the same time.

The TOS Enterprise Crew as Hobby Fish
The wonderful @cloudilicious asked me what fish each member of the Enterprise crew would be, and man did that get me thinking. Here's what I settled on. I stuck to the fish I'm knowledgeable about (AKA the ones we sell at my work)
Captain Kirk--Betta Fish
Tumblr media
Flashy and attractive, bettas have an unfair reputation of being "easy" and "aggressive". They're destined to be alone unless fitted with just the right group. The reality is that they're very curious and intelligent and loves figuring things out. (This specific betta is my own little guy, Leonard)
Uhura-- Harlequin Rasbora
Tumblr media
These fish do best in large schools and are very social. They can be sassy, but genuinely can get along with just about anyone.
McCoy-- Cory Catfish
Tumblr media
Cory cats are "helpers"-- they work to clean the tank. They can cohabitate with bettas and get along with most fish-- but they'd compete for resources with other bottom feeders, so I wouldn't recommend them with kuhli loaches.
Chekov-- Goldfish
Tumblr media
Goldfish have a reputation for being unintelligent, but they're actually pretty smart. They can still be dumbasses, though. They sometimes eat rocks if you're not careful.
Scotty-- Electric Blue Acara Cichlid
Tumblr media
Blue acaras are generally peaceful, but are still considered semi-aggressive and can get territorial and protective. Cichlids are crafty and smart, and I have been outsmarted by one before when trying to catch it.
Spock-- Black Kuhli Loach
Tumblr media
A more "alien" looking fish, they act differently from other, more classic looking fish. They stick to the bottom or swim in large circles. Still, they need a community to fit into and do best in schools. Can coexist with bettas.
Chapel-- Angelfish
Tumblr media
Angelfish are known for committing to their partners and getting sad without them. They are typically protective and know how to hold their ground.
Sulu-- Sanke Swordtail
Tumblr media
These fish are the whole package: friendly, well-rounded, hardy, and good for beginners. Plus, the males have a sword-like shape to their back fins.

I'm pretty sure that JKR has commented that if he hadn't turned to the DEs, Lily might have fallen in love with Sev - I ship them romantically, but I still think it would've been very hard for them to last, even in a world with no Voldy. they both come across as a having Tempers lol
Yes, they said it, and I think it’s absurd. It implies that if Severus had put aside part of his interests—and therefore part of his personality—then Lily would have accepted him. It reinforces the outdated idea that if someone truly loves you, they’ll change for you. And I’m completely against that idea because I find it dangerous, toxic, and superficial.
No one should have to change who they are or set aside their interests and passions to attract someone or make a relationship work. If the baggage you carry doesn’t sit well with the other person, then that person doesn’t truly like you, period—because your baggage is part of who you are, and you can’t just give up or hide a part of yourself. There will be someone out there who doesn’t mind your baggage or knows how to deal with it—someone you actually fit with. If you have to change to fit together, then you don’t truly fit.
So yeah, I only see Platonic!Snily. And as I said in my last response, I have no issue with the romantic ship because everyone ships what they want and has their own interpretation of things, and as long as it’s not a problematic pairing, I have zero problems. But I just don’t see it, and I never have, because to me, it would be a highly dysfunctional relationship.

ACOTAR Discussion
Okay, so recently my mutual @sonics-atelier posted this fic Perfect To Me (which is so fucking amazing, I cried, go read it rn) and in this fic, they write about Tamlin developing an eating disorder (specifically anorexia) since his body changed after starting to get Spring back on its feet. And it started me down a whole rant about fictional characters being the pinnacle of beauty standards, specifically in relation to what they're bodies look like. So, to save my mutuals the long spam texts about my thoughts, I'm gonna post em here.
General trigger warning- Discussion of a variety of eating disorders, body dysmorphia and Cassian.
SJM covers disordered eating within ACOTAR, it happens specifically to the female characters. And this is something, I have a huge problem with. That might seem like a massive asshole sentence, but let me explain my thought process.
These eating disorders are not well respresented, they do not further affect the plot, they only serve to be an outward appearance to the male saviour characters that something is wrong, and they never appear on the female characters in a way that makes them any less pretty, in fact, I would say, the resulting skinniness from said disordered eating, is the desired result. By that I mean, yes I think SJM writes her female characters starving themselves to make them fit the female beauty standard.
This is very evident with Nesta, who somehow miraculously only grows thinner in the waist and hips when she is starving herself. But still has massive breasts which Cassian makes a point of oogling, despite noticing how thin she is everywhere else. Instead of taking Nesta's not wanting to eat anything and turning it into a plot point for her character in which she learns to take care of and eventually love her new Fae body, SJM decides to further starve Nesta, but Cassian limiting her sugar intake, so she reminds the same 000 size in the waist.
Now, onto what really, truly makes me angry within SJM's series. Character's gaining weight, rather than losing it.
This happens once in the series. It is one singular comment, that put me off Cassian forever.
"You need to get out in the practice ring, brother. Don't want your mate to find any soft bits."
This comment was from Cassian to Rhysand in the third chapter of ACOSF, after looking Rhys up and down pretty much.
May seem like a harmless jab to a lot of people, but take into account all of the context around it.
Cassian had just been eyeing Nesta's body-clearly suffering from the effects of long-term starvation, like a hunk of meat.
They had just won a war not long ago-still coming down from the stress highs that would have no doubt been enough to put any normal person in bed for a month.
Rhysand had only recently found out about Feyre's pregnancy, if I remember correctly-would have also found out about the risks, and would be dealing the extreme stress that would be causing.
It would be incredibly normal for Rhysand to gain weight because of all these factors. Not to mention this being the first (and I'm fairly certain) only time, SJM's mentions a male character gaining weight, and it being in such a negative light, could only suggest she, and thus Cassian, find the idea unappealing or perhaps downright abhorrent.
Which really fucking pisses me off.
Most of her female characters have experienced a form of anorexia throughout the books as a trauma or stress response. And it never exists to go further than making them more conventionally attractive.
Now further on her male characters, not a single one of them ever has an ounce of fat on their body. Weight gain is entirely out of the question, even when it should be the obvious occurrence due to whatever change in their situation.
Now this also brings me to another problem I have, which also leeches into fandom behaviour.
We all love Tamlin's tits, ofc, ofc, but muscle behaves like fat if its not being actively flexed. Tamlin's pectoral muscles are no doubt incredibly strong, and would, probably be able to crack a nut (no pun intended) if flexed. But if they werent, they would be soft and squishy. No one talks about THAT THOUGH DO YOU???
Not to mention, that, Tamlin is a beast creature, wandering the forests, not training or exercising properly, and is only gouging on the carcasses of animals he kills. This could be an excellent time to lean into weight gain, and the intense feelings of guilt, and body dysmorphia that it brings.
Lets also discuss Gwyn, a traumatised young woman who fled to the Library in order to live a life of peace. She has never trained a day in her life before becoming a Valkyrie, why is she so skinny?
It's never mentioned Gwyn having any kind of reaction to her trauma that affects her eating (as far as I remember) and I think it would be far more interesting to delve into the effects grief and the lose of a dear loved one has on the body and ones eating habits.
Lets talk about Elain, who is said to use baking a coping mechanism, why is she skinny? This is the perfect opportunity to delve into a character binge eating, then extreme guilt from the times where they were in poverty, and purging. But finding comfort in food because food = wealth, wealth =safety.
And in the end, a character can be fat and be happy. Why do we have so many characters that are so thin at the end of their books?
So many of these characters also have near no stability, their diet would not doubt be changing constantly from the inconsistency in their living situations. Which should to lead to drastic changes in their body. This could be a very interesting way to explore body dysphoria. Hating seeing yourself in the mirror even if you just survived battle, because you can hardly recognise yourself. Changing so much in the mind and not even having the comfort of your body being the same. Especially with Nesta and Elain being Made against their will. I honestly believe Nesta's starvation should have been her hating her new Fae body so much that she just wants to destroy it. Her healing, should have been learning to love herself, no matter what body she is in.
In the end, your body is you, but you are more than your body. Bodies are such incredibly fascinating tool, and people don't always have to like what it looks like to care for it. Bodies can be smaller, bigger, stronger, they take your brain wherever it wants to go. But they are not all of you. And that should have been what especially Nesta's journey could have been.
Anyway, this is incredibly sensitive topic for a lot of people, so I do really want to open this up to everyone. What are your thoughts on this topic? Do you think SJM's portrayal of eating disorders is justified, or do you think I'm wrong on any of these points? Let me know in either the comments or the reblogs, I would be happy to discuss it.

The Tension and the Terror..............Part VIII
Tumblr media
Pairing: Emperor Geta x OFC (extremely loosely, character is named but otherwise not described besides hair length in a later part)
Summary: Geta makes a declaration of love. It isn't received well, through no fault of his own.
Warnings: violence, implication of SA (did not occur), 18+ only.
Word Count: 3.4k
Part 8 of 13?
[ Part VII ]
Series Masterlist
A/N: This is a bit more foundation work. I also didn't name Letha's brother (or any of her family) so you can picture whoever you want. I almost took all this out, I wasn't sure it fit everything I've written up to now, but I hope it works for you.
Raptio is literally "taking," but it's used to reference the abduction of women, to be used/enslaved or married against their will. The obvious implication there is SA, but I am not including that aspect here because it's just not needed. Being kidnapped is enough, surely. I don't know if it was really a punishable crime, but I sure hope so. It is in this version of events, anyway. The next two parts will pretty much be all Geta. Thanks for your patience!
Letha had beaten both Emperors to breakfast that morning, despite spending extra time in choosing a dress from the assortment delivered to her rooms the prior day. The anticipation of seeing Geta again drew her out of bed early. She took advantage of the quiet to actually eat a reasonable meal, only interrupted as she pushed the small plate away.
“My brother dismissed all his concubines this morning. You wouldn’t happen to know anything about that, would you?” Caracalla wasn’t really asking. He already knew she had something to do with it. Still, the news shocked her. She thought of Lyra, regretting her words. She hoped nothing awful had happened.
“I didn’t ask him to–”
“Of course you didn’t. You can’t tell us to do anything,” he sighed, pulling out his usual chair and plopping down in it. “Just thought you’d like to know.”
Letha took it for the kindness it was. “Thank you, Caracalla.”
He reached out and picked through the fruit, mischief lighting his eyes up. “So does this mean you two are fucking?”
She nearly choked. “N-No,” she responded, recovering, face on fire.
Caracalla giggled. She avoided looking over at him, instead choosing to study the elaborate craftsmanship of the table. It was a nice table, she thought, desperately trying to not think about Geta.
The chair beside Letha was pulled out and the man himself sank into it, a sly smile already on his face as he busied himself with adjusting his robes. He was all made up, ready for the day. Bright, shining, like Apollo.
He leaned over, invading Letha’s space. “Did you get enough to eat?” he asked quietly.
“Yes,” she assured him. She was nervous to meet his eyes again after the way she left him. She was relieved he didn’t seem upset with her, quite the opposite.
Protective?
“How is your shoulder?”
“Better,” she answered.
She noticed Caracalla watching his brother intently. She followed his gaze, surprised to see the dark maroon already lining his eyes. She expected to see the tired, fresh-from-bed version of Geta. This was… It was nice.
“You sure look pretty for the senators, brother,” Caracalla teased.
Geta looked down to Letha, his gaze soft for once. “It’s not for them.” The smile returned. Her face probably felt hot to the touch. She almost pressed her own hand to her face to check.
“Why do I even have to go?” Caracalla whined, slumping in his chair. “Can’t you tend to them by yourself?”
Geta looked over at his brother, his smile growing. “It’s our duty.” He picked up an apple and took a bite, his pleasant mood almost infectious.
“I’ve never seen you so eager to fulfill our duty,” Caracalla grumbled.
“You must get ready, ‘Calla,” Geta requested, his tone gentle. “It shouldn’t be a long meeting. Then you can have your games.” Another bite of the apple.
Geta was always so sweet to his brother. Letha couldn’t come up with a better word for it. Taking the sting out of responsibilities, soothing his panic and fear, distracting him with life’s pleasures to ease his mood. He tolerated his teasing, even when his patience had run out for all others. Caracalla was exempt from Geta’s poor moods. He only ever received a tiny fraction of Geta’s ire when his mouth got away from him and he seemed on the verge of revealing something in other company that Geta wished to remain private.
And Caracalla intuitively understood his brother’s shifting moods and their cause, not usually having to ask him what was wrong, what might be bothering him. Perhaps all that time seated beside his brother he became a good study.
“At least Letha will keep me company,” Caracalla smiled.
“The senators might balk at her presence,” Geta admitted.
“Since when do you care?”
“I don’t,” Geta claimed, glancing down at Letha. “She can come if she wants to.”
“Is she not here for my protection?” Caracalla asked, seemingly concerned.
“I’ve arranged for Tegula’s best man to remain at your side, at all times,” Geta explained, gesturing to a lightly armored man standing in the corner of the room, tucked in among the columns as if he was trying to be inconspicuous. “This is Ancus.”
Caracalla looked over at the man. Then back to his brother, to Letha. To Geta again. “But I don’t want Ancus, I want Letha,” Caracalla complained, something in his tone veering towards true agitation.
“She’s still healing, ‘Calla,” Geta explained. “She will be near, but I would feel better if Ancus stayed with you too, at least until we figure out who’s responsible for these attacks.”
“You just want her for yourself!” Caracalla accused, standing from his chair. Geta mirrored his movement, albeit much more slowly.
“Caracalla, I—” he paused, adopting a more gentle tone before continuing, “I will not keep her from you. She can do as she pleases. I just need to know that you are safe.”
His words seemed to soothe him enough, but Letha worried that this would not be the last of this conversation. Caracalla skulked off, and Ancus followed after him silently.
Geta sank back into his chair with a sigh, his mood no longer nearly as pleasant.
“I will spend time with him today,” Letha offered, broaching the silence.
He leaned his head back, his head turning in her direction lazily, a smirk appearing. “Not too much, I hope.”
“As much as is necessary to preserve his good temper,” she answered, the pressure of his warm eyes on her jump-starting that heat again, as if she were back in the gardens again, frozen beneath his stare.
“Oh, but then I’d never see you, Letha,” he teased, moving closer, “and I have more to offer you.”
“More?” She couldn’t help her eyes falling to his lips.
She jumped in her seat as his fingers found the skin along the inside of her leg, just past her knee, too close for where they were, in the middle of the dining hall. She quickly pressed her hands to his, trapping it against her skin. He squeezed.
He leaned over further, his lips finding her ear. “Just something for you to consider today, when you’re… deciding how to allocate your time.” His teasing was back in full force. He drew back, taking another bite of the apple, his stare unwavering as he chewed.
Letha could only watch him right back, thoughts boiling until her legs stopped shaking and she could stand.
Tumblr media
Letha understood Caracalla’s complaints about having to meet with the Senators almost immediately. She could feel their eyes on her as soon as she stepped into the room, following behind the twins as they made their way over to their thrones, side by side.
“A chair,” Geta summoned, pointing to the space beside his seat.
“By me, brother,” Caracalla insisted.
Geta frowned, but relented.
Letha was sure to reach down and brush the hand gripping the arm of his seat with her fingers as she passed around the chairs, a consolation to try to keep him jovial. She took a seat as instructed, body turned in towards Caracalla in the presence of so many strangers, with clear distaste in their expressions for her unconventional presence.
“Caesars, forgive me, but what is this woman doing here? This is hardly the place for a dalliance—”
Geta rose, the speed of it startling some, Letha included. “She is a lady, and you will address her as such,” he corrected, standing before the bravest of the Senators. A display of power, of confidence. Of ego. “That lady is the reason your Emperors still stand and breathe. I believe you owe her an apology.”
He was incensed. Part of Letha almost felt bad for the Senator cowering before Geta, all his fury and splendor making him appear very much like a god. It shouldn’t have been so thrilling to see, but Letha couldn’t help herself.
“I am sorry, my lady,” he spoke, his eyes on Geta. His fear was palpable.
Caracalla giggled beside her. “It’s not usually this entertaining.”
A few more moments of lording over the senator and Geta stepped back, slightly more composed. “What do you need of us today?” Geta finally asked, sinking back into his seat.
An older senator stood, stepping into the middle of the room, drawing Geta’s gaze. “There was a question of increasing your personal guard’s wages, Caesars?”
“Yes,” another stood, “We do have questions as to the… necessity of this. It is a steep price.”
Geta frowned. “Is our safety not worth the extra expense? We’ve had two attacks in as many days.”
“Well, perhaps if you did not hold such lavish dinner parties every night, the costs could go towards this increase you desire.”
“Senator Gracchus,” Geta smiled, standing. “I will remind you that we have not yet found the person responsible for bribing the Praetorian. Someone wishes us dead.”
Letha froze up in her seat. Yes, someone did. But they were looking in the wrong place.
“The sum recovered was far too large for an average citizen to come up with,” Geta explained, circling the senator. All others had backed off, allowing all of Geta’s displeasure to focus in on Gracchus. “Should I have you interrogated? Or will you pay Tegula’s men what they are owed?”
A moment longer was all it took before Gracchus wavered, relenting. “They shall have it, Emperor.” A chorus of similar responses sounded throughout the room.
“Very good,” Geta praised, moving past the senator and reclaiming his seat. “What else?”
The doors at the back of the room opened and a tall, hulking figure clad in dark armor and a red cape strode in, bowing before the emperors before rising to his full height. The garish line across the side of his head still looked like it burned, the flesh vividly red around the line. The cut ear.
Letha recognized him immediately. She shrank in her seat, drawing Caracalla’s eye. A flash of her brother’s bruised and bloody face had her squeezing her eyes shut. It wasn’t enough, the image wouldn’t leave.
“Emperor Geta, Emperor Caracalla,” the general greeted. “I have come to report on my men.” He did not spare a glance to Letha. Either he mistook her for another of their concubines, or did not spend enough time in the Senate chambers to know how unusual her presence was.
“General Plautianus,” Geta greeted. His eyes raked over the violent wound. “What of them?”
“Regrettably, they cannot seem to be contained,” Thraex interjected, eyes on the General as he got to his feet. “They drink the city dry and commit acts of violence upon its citizens. A brawl in a brothel just yesterday required a hefty discretionary payment to appease the owner so he didn’t ban the entire army.”
“They need to be sent away,” Gracchus agreed. “They are bored, and their victories have given them a feeling of entitlement to the city’s offerings.”
Oh, that sounds quite familiar, Letha frowned. So as long as it isn’t taking place in Rome, that’s what matters, she thought bitterly, sinking back into her memories and tuning out the rest of the conversation.
Tumblr media
“Your God-Emperors are cowards,” Letha’s brother spoke, his lip split, his brow leaking blood. His eye socket looked broken, his skin beginning to darken around his eye.
“You should hold your tongue,” General Plautianus spat, stepping past the man crumpled against the wall. Another soldier knelt beside him, gripping the cloth covering his shoulders tightly, keeping him upright.
“You Romans can’t take a joke,” he laughed. It devolved into a coughing fit not long after, his hands going to his ribs as he grimaced.
Letha looked up, worry filling her as she waited for her brother to recover, desperately trying to figure out how to help him, how to get them out of this mess.
“You should stop talking before you choke on your blood,” another soldier threatened.
“You’d have to hit me a bit harder for that,” he grunted, clearly nursing a broken rib.
“Brother, please!” Letha pleaded, begging for him to be silent. Him egging on their captors would ruin their chances of surviving this night.
The sound of the harsh slap cut through the room, almost echoing. For a moment Letha couldn’t feel her face at all. Then it all flooded in at once, tears welling, clouding her vision.
She could hear her brother shouting, the soldiers joining in. She tried to ignore the way her cheek stung, too concerned for her brother’s welfare to care about her own. It was one blow versus the great many he’d suffered at their hands already.
They were holding him down against the wall, it took two of them now. The General stood before her, his hand still outstretched from the slap, though his eyes were cast over his shoulder at her brother as he spouted insulting, angry words.
“You are lucky you’re considered one of Rome’s subjects now,” the General spoke, returning his attention to Letha. “Your dear father pleaded for your safety, and I can think of none better to secure it than me.”
Letha understood his intent, the implication of his words. It was nothing new. It was all men ever did. She couldn’t be dragged to Rome. She refused. As her brother drew his attention once more, his protests much more spirited, she saw only one opportunity to save herself from that future.
She reached forward and drew the sword from its hilt on his belt, the sound of it drawing all attention to her. It was heavier than she was used to, the blade much wider. Still, she didn’t waste a moment, swinging it recklessly at the General’s head. It drew blood, but the recoil of it hitting his thick skull forced it out of her hands. He roared, his hands moving to cover the red line leaking blood down the side of his head.
Letha felt the stabbing point of a gladius at her back, the soldier’s boot forcing her flat onto the floor. She wondered if it had drawn blood, it felt quite sharp even through the dress. Even if she had just signed her own death warrant, that would be preferable to the alternative.
Plautianus hissed as he cupped his ear, reaching down for his discarded sword. He used it to tilt her face up, forcing her to see the wound she’d created. “You’ll pay for that,” he assured her.
“Please, just leave her alone,” her brother pleaded. “It was stupid, she shouldn’t have done it, but don’t hurt her.”
His words stung. He was right, it was incredibly stupid of her, but she had to do something–
“No, no–”
The blade had left her chin without her realizing it. It was embedded in her brother’s throat. She screamed.
Tumblr media
“Letha,” Caracalla whispered, a hand pressing against her cheek, drawing her back to the present. “Are you alright?” She jumped, crashing out of the vivid memory. He moved his hand down to squeeze hers. “Do you want something to drink?”
She shook her head, eyes landing on Plautianus. He wore the very same armor as that day.
He is the monster.
“I will think on it,” Geta answered, dismissing the senators. “General, I would like to speak with you, if you have the time.” He wasn’t really asking.
Plautianus nodded, clasping his hands together in front of him, watching the senators as they trickled out of the room. As his eyes scanned the room, they finally landed on her. There was a flicker of recognition in his eyes and he reflexively reached up for the side of his head, to the scar there. He said nothing of it, instead returning his attention to his smiling Emperor.
“Letha,” Geta called out, reaching an arm out for her to join him. Her stomach sank like a stone. “Come on,” he urged, as if he were coaxing a small child into a room full of strangers. As if it were shyness keeping her in her seat. But he didn’t know. How could he know?
She stood on shaky legs and released Caracalla’s hand to walk over, trying to keep her eyes on Geta so she didn’t fall into a state of panic. Even though months had passed, it was now so fresh in her mind, as if it had happened only days ago. She felt ill.
Geta was concerned, but he hid it well. He wrapped an arm around her waist and returned his attention to the General.
“I’d like to introduce you to Letha,” Geta spoke, looking down at Letha with something close to love in his eyes. Perhaps she was imagining it to save herself from the reality of what was unfolding.
“I don’t believe you two have met, unless… Well, have you?” Geta prodded, all pretense falling away.
Letha felt herself suck in a deep breath at the realization. Geta knew. How much, she couldn’t say. But he knew of their meeting, likely how she was brought to Rome. How she was purchased by Macrinus. From Macrinus himself, she thought. It would explain their new closeness. What else had Macrinus shared?
General Plautianus seemed just as caught off guard. He looked like he wasn’t sure if he ought to lie, or admit to his crime.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” Geta frowned. “Ancus,” he muttered, signaling for him to approach.
Ancus moved swiftly behind the General, pressing his boot into the back of Plautianus’s knee to force him onto the marble, his hands gripping the pauldrons to keep the General still.
“Raptio,” Geta spat, “is a crime, General. Just in case you’ve forgotten.”
The sound of a sword being drawn sent shivers of revulsion down Letha’s spine. The tremors that Geta had stilled with his hand at her lower back resumed. The General looked truly frightened. It didn’t fill Letha with any amount of satisfaction. She was just as scared as he was.
Geta raised the General’s sword high so he could inspect the edge, trying to determine its sharpness. He pressed the blade to the spot just above the chestplate, letting the tip bite through the cloth covering the base of his throat before turning to Letha, ignoring the General altogether.
“Should he be killed?”
Letha could see now the warnings she’d been given. Geta was deadly. He was clever and vengeful and violent. But he hid it well. So well. Much better than Caracalla. Seeing the senators scared to defy him, the way his General seemed scared of his whims, she should’ve been scared of him too.
But it was never directed at her. And even now, it was being done in service of her desires, her wants. She felt… honored. He was offering her a gift. A declaration of love if looked at in the right light.
She felt her own love for him beginning to bud, but her memories were too distracting in the moment, keeping her expression empty, her body trembling. If they were somewhere else, she might have taken the time to explain, so he’d understand she wasn’t spurning him intentionally, she just couldn’t get a handle on her own mind.
“Emperor!” Plautianus lifted his hands up from his waist, his plea desperate. “T-This is improper.”
Geta glowered down at him, his eyes narrowed.
“She attacked us,” he tried to explain. Ancus kept his knees pressed to the floor.
“Quiet!” Geta ordered, glaring at the General. He returned his eyes to Letha’s, his gaze softening immediately.
In that moment all Letha could do was stand there and try to keep her tears at bay.
Was this the same sword used on her brother?
Geta was patient, reading into the way she shook slightly, a bead of sweat falling down over her temple. She was terrified. Perhaps now wasn’t the best time. He could drag him out again later on, when she felt more up to it.
“It seems Justicia has saved you today, Plautianus. Find solace in your cell.”
The sword was silently returned to Ancus and as soon as it left Geta’s hand he brought her back in close, whisking her away from the scene and over to the golden thrones.
“Brother?” Caracalla asked, clearly confused.
“I will explain later,” Geta spoke, his eyes focused on Letha. His hands found her cheeks, attempting to soothe her. “I should not have sprung that upon you,” he realized.
“I-I do not think–I think I should lie down,” she confessed, a tear spilling down her cheek. She could see the heartbreak plain in Geta’s eyes. “I’m sorry, I don’t think I can attend the games today, I don’t feel well.”
“It’s fine,” Geta assured her, smoothing her hair out of her face. “I should have warned you.”
She couldn’t say anything more, couldn’t offer some placating remark to soothe his mood. She needed calm and quiet, and she wouldn’t get that from the arena. She hoped he understood that.

yves!! the kpop anon here :p i dont know if you already got an ask about this, but what do you actually think about bonten trio? a lot of people say they wouldnt get along, but i like to think that they would😭 what do you think?
Bonten trio
Ngl realistically they don't get along well at all. Especially Ran and Sanzu who has had some kind of vendetta against each other going on since Kantou Manji, so I think it'd be hard for them to be in the same room long hours without some stuff breaking out. I do think that Sanzu in general is a very difficult person to handle as well, hence why. There's of course more stuff between him and the brothers that has made them so hostile with each other.
I think this also applies to all of Bonten in general like they're not bosozoku kids who rev bikes and fight idiots who badmouthed about them anymore. They're wanted criminals who kills and trade drugs/weapons/prostitutes for a living, drive million-dollar cars and stay in penthouses all over the world. They live looking over their shoulders all the time.
Extras
Lore accurate Bonten trio?
Bonten trio only came to be because they're the most popular characters in Bonten, but I think realistically the Bonten trio should be Kakucho, Kokonoi and Takeomi. These three are the real pillars of Bonten. One's in charge of money, one's an advisor who Mikey listens to a lot and plans most things since he does have ample knowledge of the underworld, and one's his left hand who oversees most things in the organisation. Think of Mikey and Kakucho as K-Drama My Name's Choi Mujin and Jung Taeju. Sanzu.... he's always off doing his own thing if not serving Mikey, so I don't think he fits into the list, or he even wants to fit in at all. He doesn't like anybody, doesn't get along with anyone.
Kakucho and Ran
Kakucho and Ran have a decent relationship since last time. They're able to sit together and have a drink from time to time, talk about life, but both are smart and clever enough to respect boundaries and not overstep. They are good with words. But one time Kakucho tried advising Ran on something that he thinks Ran is doing wrong/going off track and Ran got pissed. But they don't argue/go back and forth like Rindou and Kokonoi would, like in Helheim where they quarrelled in front of everyone because of a girl. Instead, a lot of passive aggressiveness and stern tones are used between the two. Sharp mouths and clever minds at work.
Rindou
Rindou doesn't care about anything. I've thought of this before and I really can't see Rindou being involved in the organisation as much. I do think that he tried leaving Bonten after witnessing Mikey kill someone (during the shift from Kantou Manji to Bonten after their win in the Three Deities) and realising the weight of all this, but couldn't, so he stayed, but he doesn't like it. He has the mentality of "I didn't ask to be here, so why should I care?" Something like that. He was only dragged into Kantou Manji/Bonten because South lost.
Kokonoi and Kakucho
Kokonoi and Kakucho have a strict business-only relationship. Other than organisation stuff, do not fucking talk to me. But they're cool with each other to say the least. Nothing wrong with each other.
Takeomi (and Kakucho)
Takeomi has that relationship with everyone but he and Kakucho are the closest/have the most interactions because of their positions (even though it's also pretty clear that they don't fancy each other, Kakucho only entertains Takeomi because he knows how to separate work and personal, Takeomi can't). But even so, Takeomi picks fights the most, probably because of his age multiplied by his position that he thinks it's no problem to order the executives around.
I love this specific panel in chapter 212, I really liked the way Kakucho talked to Takeomi here, like damn Kaku you're quick with it 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨
Tumblr media
Rindou and Takeomi
Rindou thinks the guy has a special vendetta against him because he keeps biting on Rindou at any chance he gets.
Rindou and Kokonoi
The two have nothing to say to each other. The two might be tied together by some stuff that requires Kokonoi's help since he's in charge of finance, but Rindou thinks other than that he has nothing to talk to with the guy. All of them in general have had interactions with Kokonoi because of this reason. He's a cool guy, but it's strictly business-only (no money no talk) with him.
Mochi
As for Mochi...... I don't know honestly. I don't know much about him because his aura in Tenjiku and his aura in Bonten are completely different. No backstory given either like ZERO. All we know is that he used to fight with the Kawata Twins before Tenjiku and he's a fucking beast. At least for the Haitanis they have delusional-enough fans to make things up. But for Mochi???? Can someone share us some thoughts... I'm not in that radar 😭🙏🏻
Mikey
I don't have anything to say about Mikey because I still don't understand his mind even after rereading the manga. Like. I don't know if it's accurate to say that he doesn't care? He lets them handle things their own way, which to him is considered very lenient (he can be more fearful if he wants, but he doesn't need to, because the others already know better than to get cocky around him) and only gives out approvals. Maybe if he wants something or a certain territory he'll give out orders. But he still has his own methods for handling certain stuff. I like to think that all of them are constantly trying to live under his radar so that nothing troublesome happens. For example, they're handling some stuff, and the one thing they always say as a reminder (either to each other or to underlings) is to "make sure Mikey doesn't know about this" or "make sure you're doing it right. You don't wanna piss Mikey of." Just something along those lines. They won't involve Mikey for petty stuff
Lol i know anon only asked about bonten trio but i wanted to take the chance and talk about the others too. Lmk if yall have any other thoughts lets chatttt

this is the 5th and unfortunately last page of this mini comic. This was intended to be a quick project but ended up stretching to almost if not a year of work due to my commitments to irl stuff. I loved working on this and I'm once again thankful to @blood-injections for letting me make these few pages based off their post here.
you can find the previous pages here: 1, 2&3, 4
more explanation and background beneath the cut
I underestimated the amount of work that would go into making these, especially with all the pages being fully rendered. Initially there were supposed to be 6 pages but I ended up having to stretch it to 7 pages. But now I've decided to end it here on the 5th page due to a number of reasons. The first being that I just unfortunately do not have the time for this kind of commitment anymore with me in college now. I also have just moved on from mcr content and have been more interested in other bands and other media. Another reason is that I do not have a lot of time in general to even do digital drawings anymore and finally I feel like my art style right now that I'm currently happy with is a departure from the style that i started this comic with, and it just doesn't fit it very well.
I felt pretty bad having to take so long on working on these pages and only coming out with one, maybe two pages after 3 months, since i've only been able to work on these during my semester breaks.
Thank you to people who've been following and reading along, and again, thank you so so much to @/blood-injections for giving me permission to make their post into this short comic, even if I never ended up finishing it.
This part will just be some final thoughts. I learned a lot while making the pages; panel shapes and placement and how to make it appealing, how to space out and arrange speech bubbles to make the dialog more digestible and easy to read, how to sort of draw out the sound effects which I'm still trying to get the hang of in terms of fonts. The hardest thing I found about making all of these is consistency, not just in terms of schedule but in terms the process of making the comic itself, particularly the designs of the characters. I hadn't created a character reference sheet at all for this since I anticipated it to be short and quick (it was not lol), and so there were quite a few times where I found myself accidentally forgetting to draw some details of the character's designs but since I had already posted them, all I could do was just add the designs I missed in the next pages. I hope that didn't bug you all too much :'3
That's pretty much all I have to say, thank you for the people that stuck around this long but I apologize for not being able to continue the comic due to personal commitments and having moved on to other interests. I hope you all have a good one :]

Whats your opinion of the Rise community’s impression of 2012 splinter? For me I think he’s a very nice guy just unprepared like bro just got shoved four children
Uh this was random
I just want to make a note of something:
I’ve spent so long trying to come up with a response to this because I can think of some people who are pretty deep in the RISE fandom who are like “2012Splints ain’t that bad tho”. So addressing the entire fandom is actually more difficult than it sounds concerning Splinter.
So instead of addressing the entire community, which would put many people in boxes that they don’t fit in, I’m going to use this Ask to make a statement about the whole Rise VS 2012 debate.
So my firm opinion that I will give is this:
You cannot forgive Rise Splinter without forgiving 2012 Splinter.
And for the 2012 Fandom:
You cannot understand 2012 Splinter without understanding Rise.
You cannot say that you honestly grasp the extent of one trauma/depression without acknowledging the existence of the other. Both Splinters have similar building blocks of trauma (forcefully separated from someone who they love dearly, forced to fight for their lives for who knows how many weeks/months, forced to live/adapt to a body that’s not their own, and forced care for helpless mutant children on top of it all) but their ways of dealing with it are different ONLY because of their different upbringings.
Their traumas are the same but their history is different. (No, you can’t use the ‘well one is a struggling immigrant and the other isn’t’, because Yoshi literally grew up in Japan. He only moved to New York because that’s what Shen wanted. So he has more connection to his origins than Lou has. But that really is beside the point.)
Anyone can have the argument that they feel that one Splinter is the ‘lesser evil’ in this scenario. There are some pretty good debates for both sides, but you cannot claim to have any sort of proof that one Splinter loves his sons more than the other.
You can’t. It’s ignorant and untrue. And I stand by that.
After all, they both kept and raised four mutant children.
And I know that’s a pretty obvious piece of lore, but I don’t think most people truly realize just how monumental that is.
It’s hard enough to raise one child, and harder still two, but four mutant infants? All on your own while trying to manage a new body with no outside help of any kind- and dealing with the fact that their entire infant hood would be a guessing game of do I have any idea if this would hurt/kill the turtle side of them? Not to mention the patience it would take raising children with super strength and amazing abilities that most parents don’t have to deal with?
Four children- all with different mental capacities, all with the different dreams and desires, all the different wants and hates, all the different fears and struggles and tantrums, and you have to learn how to understand and raise all of those personalities (because toddlers absolutely have MASSIVE personalities) all at once.
All of the variables that came into raising them, all those reasons that would make life beyond difficult, all the temptation not to, and these men pilled with trauma and grief still looked at the tiny freaks of nature and went: Yeah. Yeah, I’ll be their dad.
Just like there are many different love languages, there are also many different ways of showing your love. RISE Splinter did it in the big ways while often neglecting the small, and 2012 Splinter did it in the small ways well often neglecting the big.
One man does not have worse trauma than the other.
One man does not have more love for his children.
You will never be able to convince me that you truly understand what 2012 has gone through but still hate him, if you cannot acknowledge that there might be a reason for you to hate Rise too.
If you cannot comprehend understanding/forgiving 2012 then I really don’t think you truly understand/forgive Rise either.
So, yeah. That’s my hot take, ig.

k-pop idol AU anon here ˭̡̞(◞⁎˃ᆺ˂)◞*✰ i'm glad you liked my idea!! ♡ and do not worry about intruding or anything like that i love & value your comments!!
here's what i'm thinking for inhun... we need to go back to the 90's for this one.   ☾  .𖥔 ݁ ˖༘⋆𐦍⊹₊ ⋆。˚
inho got an opportunity from a friend of his great uncle (and that friend is none other than the music executive of a famous record label in seoul, oh ilnam), leaving university behind and decided to pursue a music career instead. he didn't want a monotonous life as some office worker anyways.
people are in love with his looks, his music, his bad boy persona... wearing cutoff shirts and the like (SUN'S OUT GUN'S OUT ! 😤). as to which genre, that's up to you guys to decide! but his albums are selling like crazy and his songs are always up top on the charts, never second place. until...
oh ilnam scouted for new talents but to no avail. there is money to be made here! luckily for him, ilnam struck gold when he felt hungry and wanted some comfort food like tteokbokki. because then he saw the most prettiest and beautiful young man at a stall, helping his friend's mom with the orders. the young man is a bit clumsy (he almost dropped ilnam's soju bottle on the ground). his name is seong gihun. a little reserved, sweet eyes, beautiful lithe build. oh, what an angel. a smile that is worth more than diamonds and gold in the earth. KA-CHING! that's the sound of money pouring in!ilnam asked gihun if he can sing. "ah, well, i love going out for karaoke but i wouldn't say i'm excellent at it..." but that's not a problem, nothing a couple of vocal lessons that can't fix!
the next day gihun found himself in the studio along with ilnam and other important figures to brainstorm how to mold him into a superstar. everyone is complimenting his physique and gorgeous face, making gihun blush and play with the hem of shirt. one thing lead to another, and looks like the industry has another rising starlet!
i really love the sound of 90's R&B, so i think i'll choose this genre for gihun (づ˶•༝•˶)づ♡ what started out as playful, captivating, funky songs developed into very foxy, sultry, and smooth. gihun evolved as an artist and got out of his shell, becoming more sure of himself, going with concepts that he likes and what he feels like fits the most. and that is by being an artist portraying himself as both innocent little kitty and a sexy siren. he experiments with outfit too! does not matter if it's a skirt or jeans, clothes are clothes and he is here to look CUN-TY! women, men, no matter who - everyone wants gihun (*ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)ꕤ*
i think it would be funny if inho never got to meet gihun immediately because he himself is busy recording, touring, practicing choreo, attending award shows, etc. but he does notice there is competition around. on the top 10 charts for songs or album sales they are so close to each other. then he sees gihun on a cover of playboy ("i know he's not a girl, but he's pretty like the rest of 'em! believe me, those magazines will be flying off the shelves!" said gihun's manager. and she was RIGHT). inho's brain short circuits but he quickly snaps out of it has to focus on performing live on a late night show. fuck, gihun was attractive. beautiful curves and features. he needs to know more about him. he needs to have him.
inho and gihun eventually meet at a staff party, celebrating record-breaking profits. inho finds out that gihun might be older and slightly taller than, but he can wrap his strong arms around gihun's tiny waist and lift him up easily. they get to know each other very well, and ilnam sees the chemistry between both singers. he gets this brilliant idea - those two should tour together.
and it's a big success, there is an entire crowd of screaming fans waiting for them to perform solo and together. i'd imagine inho and gihun spending time with each other during the tour would make them fall head over heels in love. not just as artists, but for who they are (,,♡ᵕ♡,,) as people, as one nerdy guy interested in crime/detective books and a clumsy fellow who took in stray cats until his mother scolded him. amidst the singing and showbusiness, they found each other (╥﹏╥)💜💜💜
believe me when i tell you inhun would fuck like rabbits because they're two young men and gihun's hips are made to be gripped at, but because they're two high demand artists and under strict regiments they're not able to fully savor their relationship... i'd imagine there would be many fanservice moments on stage though. like inho holding gihun's waist or giving him a kiss ln the neck. making the audience go WILD. ilnam isn't opposed to this because money but he did tell them to keep it at that and don't go beyond unless they want his higher ups to chew him out (so PDA is not okay but making gihun pose for playboy? alright *rolls eyes*)
PART 2 COMING SOON, HWAIT FOR ME UNNIE~ ٩(^ᗜ^ )و ´-
omggg 🥹🥹😩😩💖 this is incredible!!
i think inho could rap! that way when they are together the music flows since rap and r&b go great together!
maybe, gihun's manager could be geumja? and even when she has a baby boy she continues working and brings little yongsik with her! years later, he debuts in a boygroup!
and if inho raps then u know he was thanos' inspiration 🫶
omg inhun not being able to share their love with the world 😭😭 sleazy record producers working them like dogs and their only refuge is each other 💖
YES PLEASE GIVE ME ALL OF IT!!!😫😤

AO3 Link
Previous Chapter
Two days. They were coming home in two days. Penny, Ames, and I were going around to each of their apartments, giving it a good clean, and I had baked a few lasagnas so that everyone would have a couple of meals in their fridges.
“Ames, what are you doing in there?” Penny called down the hallway where Amelia was supposed to be changing bedsheets in Rooster and Jake’s rooms. I was wiping away dust that had settled on and Penny was vacuuming the living room.
“Looking for an engagement ring!” Amelia’s giggles filled the apartment, “Jake didn’t have anything so now I’m checking Bradley’s drawers.” Penny and I shared a look somewhere between amusement and exasperation.
“Get out of Bradley’s room,” Penny ordered, shaking her head. I sighed, continuing to dust the cabinets. If Jake had bought an engagement ring, I’m pretty sure I would have known about it because the man did not keep secrets well. At least not from me. Even though it would have been a happy secret, Jake probably would’ve been jumpy or a little more anxious, and he probably would have at least asked what type of ring I would have wanted beforehand. And if there was anyone he would have trusted to keep the ring a secret, it would have been Mav, not Rooster.
Amelia came out of the hallway with a huff, arms crossed. She was trying a new hairstyle, wearing her pretty, blonde locks in a French braid instead of just having the cute, small braid while the left was rest down. It fit her well but it also made her look a little bit more like the teenager she was, which Penny had mentioned was harder than she thought it would be.
“You two are no fun,” She stuck her tongue out at Penny. “If I have to be at school for the proposal, I should at least get to see the ring beforehand.”
“Honey, I don’t think he’s going to propose at the docks,” Penny tried once again to dissuade Amelia’s theory. Proposing right after coming off the ship from deployment probably would look like something out of the movies but I knew it wasn’t a likely scenario. He had been expecting to come home months ago, before the one year mark, and probably hadn’t even bought a ring yet, and without contact with the outside world, there was no way he had been scheming with his family. Which meant unless he was proposing with a ring pop from the commissary, there wouldn’t be a Amelia-less proposal.
The day before the whole gang got home, Jake’s family flew in. They had booked to stay at a hotel close to my apartment, since Jake spent most of his time there anyways, and I was giddy waiting for them at the airport. Pop’s surgery had gone well and his doctor had approved the trip, which was just one more thing to celebrate.
“You don’t know that,” Amelia insisted in a sing-song voice. This was going to be a long day.

“Daisy!” Caroline shrieked, waving wildly from beside an equally smiley Helen. Pops had gained back a little weight in his face and was looking healthier already, holding onto mama’s arm as they trailed behind their daughters.
“You’re here!” I rushed to hug them both, heart overwhelmed with happiness. I had to be up on my toes to hug them around the neck, which earned me some giggles, but they hugged me back tightly. “He’s going to be so excited to see you guys.”
“I think he’ll be more excited to see you,” Helen patted my shoulder as we pulled apart. I gave mama and pops hugs as well before we walked to the rental car desk together, chatting as mama got the keys.
“How are you feeling about tomorrow, sweetheart?” Pops asked, arm draped over my shoulders.
“Excited and a little nauseous if I’m being honest,” I laughed awkwardly, knowing it sounded silly but pops just nodded. “It’s just been so long, a lot of things could have changed, if that makes sense?”
“Makes a lot of sense,” Pops tugged me closer into his side, kissing my temple. “I felt the same way when I was coming home from deployment, happy as hell to be home but scared of what could be waiting for me.” Pops’ words lifted a weight from my chest, validating that what I was feeling was normal.
“I’m so happy you’re here, pops, and I know he’s going to be too.” Pops didn’t say anything else, he just leaned his head on mine and we stood there in a comfortable silence as the world continued around us.
The next morning was a flurry of nerves and excitement. Their ship was coming in early according to Penny and I desperately wanted to wear my pajamas but just in case we ended up going to breakfast with his family, I actually put on clothes. Cuffed jeans, Jake’s Naval Academy sweatshirt, and a messy bun. Cute but comfortable enough that I wouldn’t want to throw myself into the ocean before he even got off of the ship. Pretty was also excited, riding in the back of the truck with his head out the window.
Mav was the only one not ready to kill me by the time the ship pulled in and that was because he was just as excited as I was. Daisy and Penny were waiting for us, probably together, and I was practically vibrating out of my uniform in anticipation.
“Remember, no growling at Jake and you still get to cuddle with mommy but you’ve got to save space in the bed for him.” If Pretty Boy understood me was anyone’s guess but it made me feel better to say it aloud. “And no chewing on his uniform boots, those things are expensive.”
X
“Twenty bucks says he proposes in the next twenty four hours,” Phoenix not-so-softly whispered to Rooster who snorted,
“Double he does it in the next hour.”
“Deal,” I rolled my eyes at them. Technically I was already late on proposing, the year anniversary of us meeting having come and gone, but I wasn’t going to rush it. I was going to wait until I had a ring and all the details planned out.
“Remember, Hangman,” Mav elbowed my side, “You’re in uniform.”
“I’ll remember if you do, Mav,” Mav grimaced.
“Good point, kid.” The Navy had a rule against PDA in uniform but no one usually paid attention to them when it came to loved ones before or after a deployment. Still, technically those were the rules.
“Holy shit man, your family’s here,” Javy clapped me on the shoulder, pointing towards the crowd. Standing in a group were my parents, sisters, and Daisy. Mama and pops were hand-in-hand and my sisters had their arms around Daisy, who looked like she was crying.
Javy was laughing at me the entire time as we slowly shuffled towards the top deck to disembark, asshole. I was happy that he and Phoenix were finally together but it also meant that he hadn’t gone eight months without his girl, they had been sneaking around the ship while the rest of us suffered.
When it was finally my turn to step off the ship, I didn’t run but I wasn’t taking my sweet time either. Mama was the first one to hug me, wrapping me so tight in her arms that I dropped my bag on the pavement.
“I think this is the best homecoming I’ve ever had,” None of the ones before even compared in the slightest. My whole family and the love of my life were waiting for me, and it didn’t hurt that I knew I’d be eating something home cooked for dinner instead of take out for once.
“I’m so happy you’re home, baby,” She sniffled, “Safe and sound.”
“I missed you too, mama,” I kissed the top of her head before she backed away and pops took her place. “Good to see you, pops.”
“Nice to have you home, son,” His voice was soft and his body was frail, but he still patted my back hard enough for me to feel it in my chest. “Your sisters got Daisy distracted?” What? I looked over and saw that Daisy was in a Seresin sister hug-sandwich,
“Yeah?”
“Good, here,” Pops pulled away and pushed a small, black box into my hand. “It was your Grandma’s, your mama had it sized while you were gone.” I didn’t have to open the box to know what ring was inside the box. It was pops’ mom’s ring, silver with a small diamond, he had shown it to me when I was in high school and told me he’d be saving it for when I found the one. I felt tears fighting to spill,
“Thank you,” I managed to choke out, hugging him again.
Daisy was next, pushed towards me by my grinning sisters and when I took her in my arms, all of my plans went right out of the window. She was crying and holding onto me like I’d run away at any moment, fingers curled into the back of my uniform.
“Marry me?” Daisy laughed into my shoulder, pulling away just enough to look up at me. Her face was red and her eyes were puffy but she was still the most beautiful woman in the world, “Marry me, Daisy.”
“Amelia’s going to be so mad,” Daisy laughed, smiling bright. “Of course I’ll marry you, Jake.” I kissed her softly, aware that my family was staring at us, “I love you.”
“I love you too, Wildflower.”
“Damn it, now I owe Rooster money,” Phoenix groaned, ending the moment. Daisy pushed out of my arms and threw herself at her best friend, who was hugging her just as tight, “God I missed you.”
“I missed you too, Tasha,” I laughed, holding up the ring box. Daisy’s eyes went wide when she saw it, my sisters were laughing up a storm behind us.
“Oh, shit, forgot that part.” Daisy’s cheeks burned red as she made her way back to me, holding out a shaking hand.
“Wrong hand, baby,” I grabbed her left hand and slid the ring on. “Now you’re stuck with me,” I joked. Daisy rolled her eyes but she was smiling, “No refunds, returns,  or exchanges.”
“Damn,” She sighed, wrapping her arms around my neck, pulling me forward until our lips were inches apart. “I was planning on swapping you for Bob.”
“Too bad,” I kissed her and for the first time since I left, everything felt right.
